Real wedding – Andrea & Keegan, Woodend VIC

While Andrea and Keegan knew one another in High School, their love didn’t blossom until ten years later – and instantly they knew they were a perfect match!

They wanted their day to have a music festival vibe and by inviting food trucks, a caravan bar and an incredible trio of acoustic musicians, their wedding festival came to life.

Taking time out with their talented photographer, Jess of Elk & Willow, Andrea and Keegan loved watching their guests enjoying their celebration before they joined them for a night of dancing under the stars.

IN THEIR WORDS…

The meeting.

We had been friends through friends since High School and crossed paths again ten years later at a going away party where we hit it off straight away.

The ‘One’.

It was almost immediate with us, we both just knew it was meant to be

The proposal.

Keegan popped the question whilst we were holidaying in Port Douglas. He had originally planned to wait until half way through the trip but was so nervous he would lose the ring that he did it minutes after we arrived! We had been coincidentally upgraded to a room with a private pool so it all seemed fitting.

The planning.

We hired two amazing planners, Jess Andrews and her sister Meaghan Andrews who took care of absolutely everything. Jess was always going to be our photographer and we love her style so when she suggested her and her sister have a go at doing all the planning, we jumped at the chance. We were confident they would pull off an absolutely wonderful day and they did. Everything was perfect.

Style inspiration.

We wanted it to be more of a party/celebration rather than a formal wedding. We have attended many music festivals together and wanted to capture that same atmosphere.

The dress.

My dress was an Anna Campbell design. I have always loved her work, and when she held a trunk show to release a new line right at the time when I was looking for a dress, I was straight on the phone booking my appointment. My dress had a very vintage/bohemian look which I loved. I also loved the detailed back, it was like nothing I had seen before.

Favourite moments.

As much as both Keegan and I hate being photographed, our favourite part of the day was when our photographer took us both off to take some shots together. We were traipsing through paddocks and climbing through fences but it was really nice to have some quiet time together after all of the formalities of the ceremony. It also gave us the perfect opportunity to look back at our venue, take it all in and see everyone eating, drinking, laughing and having fun. Exactly what we wanted.

The meaning of marriage.

Getting to spend the rest of your life with your best friend and celebrating that with your nearest and dearest.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Follow You, Follow Me by Genesis.

First dance: Aint Nobody by Chaka Khan.

Planning surprises.

We were both blown away by how much the girls that planned our wedding made it look exactly how we envisioned!

Words of wisdom.

Highly recommend Jess and Meaghan (planners).

Last words…

We both felt very blessed having our 18-month-old son involved on the day. Seeing him walk down the aisle was a very special moment for everyone.
