Real Wedding – Susie & Elliot, Merricks North VIC

Being married on the Mornington Peninsula was a no brainer for Elliot and Susie. The pair have shared many a magic moment in the area, and the energy and stunning surrounds of Jackalope made it an easy and winning choice of location.

Their wedding was a relaxed affair, filled with stunning share platters of delicious eats, a rocking dance floor and magic moments a plenty.

We can’t pick one favourite element of this special day, so we will let you decide for yourselves, and the talented The White Tree has captured it perfectly from all angles.

The meeting.

Elliot and I were lucky enough to meet through our best friends.

The ‘one’.

I think we knew instantly that this was something really special, we were very aligned on values, our approach to life and had so much fun together, it was just very natural.

The proposal.

Elliot proposed in front of both of our families on Christmas Day. Elliot hates being the centre of attention so his proposal took me by complete surprise. We both adore our families so much, it was really special having all of our favourite people in the one room and made for an amazing party!

The process.

Elliot and I have our own business, Hunter Lab so it didn’t leave a lot of time for wedding planning. We were both super aligned on what we wanted so it was relatively stress free. We divided and conquered and had great suppliers around us supporting. The White Tree, in particular made our life so easy! The fact we could go to the one supplier and have all the music and photography sorted was incredible. They offered the best service and were a dream to work with! They know weddings and all of their advice was invaluable. Our five-piece band was the best decision we made.

Style inspiration.

We knew that we wanted a venue that meant something to both Elliot and I. When we first visited Jackalope in hard hats during construction, discussing Hunter Lab’s new partnership on the property, I remember both of us walking away saying if we were to ever get married this had to be the destination.

Since then we have shared so many special memories at Jackalope and on the Mornington Peninsula so it felt right – we wanted our favourite people to experience what we loved about the space – great energy, amazing food and the most beautiful backdrop. We wanted a party and Rare Hare was the perfect reception – relaxed dining which we loved, loads of share platters and a wild dance floor! Elliot and I prior to the wedding had purchased our first home on the Peninsula, swapping city life for country and therefore the Mornington Peninsula was the perfect spot for our wedding.

The dress.

I tried on lots of different dresses and it was all quite confusing however when I tried on the One Day Bridal dress I felt instantly myself in it. I loved the lace detail, the elegant leave and most importantly how comfortable I felt in it. It was different to what I had seen which I loved

Favourite moments.

Oh there are so many, it’s hard to decide! When we entered with our bridal party, the dancefloor was going crazy, when knew instantly it was going to an amazing night! Our parent’s speeches were incredibly memorable. But probably our favourite moment was Elliot and I sneaking away during the evening and toasting to our marriage overlooking the wedding and having this moment together was one we will never forget!

Meaning of marriage.

It means everything to me, it is so special to have found such an amazing husband to share life with. Being married is in an incredible bond, a lot of people say it doesn’t change you however I disagree, I think the connect you feel when you are married is beautiful and I am so proud to be married to my soul mate.

Planning surprises.

Nothing that necessarily took me by surprise, just the number of little tasks that all add up. It certainly keeps you busy!

Words of wisdom.

Remember that everyone attending loves you and that you don’t need to impress people with your amazing styling ect, they will have an incredible time regardless. Focus on the things that matter – great venue, incredible food and wine and most important killer music and you have everything you need! The White Tree band played at our wedding and it was the best part, the dancefloor made the night!

Last words.

Enjoy every minute, even when it is overwhelming, and the to-do list feels endless, it is a once in a lifetime and it really is such an incredible memory that reminds you wants important in life.
