Real Wedding – Tara & Aaron, Fitzroy VIC

If there was one to describe the wedding celebrations of Tara and Aaron it’s ‘cool’, actually make it two words –  ‘super cool’.

Surrounded by their nearest and dearest, some dapper groomsmen and an all white bridesmaid brigade, Tara and Aaron sealed the deal before heading to urban winery, Noisy Ritual, to party the night away.

The industrial setting, magical florals and a fun vibe that gave all their guests the feels, this perfect pair kept true to themselves every step of the way.

Lusy Productions were there to capture all the magic and before we forget, how about Tara’s gown, it’s a jaw-dropper!

In their words…

The meeting.

We met when I moved out with a friend and we needed another house mate, my friend Jade who knew Aaron, said ‘I know someone!’. So we lived together as friends for two years and then it grew to love. We meet in 2011.

The ‘one’.

This is a hard question! I think with Aaron, he is so different to what I had ever felt before on so many levels. He is sensitive, caring and a really calm person to be around. Once I realised those qualities I knew I had found a keeper. And now we have a son, and he is an AMAZING dad so I feel in love with him in a whole different way as well.

The proposal.

We went to the Andy Warhol exhibition, and in a room of floating balloons he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

The planning.

Very relaxed, (as our celebrant, Nat, will tell you)! We are far from stress heads, so it was pretty mellow until two days before, because I did all my own flowers. I was extremely pressed for time and didn’t sleep much. Lucky for my fellow florist girlfriends Kim and Alex. Couldn’t have done it without those two.

Style inspiration.

I guess the inspiration would just be us, Aaron and I. Like I said, we are pretty easy going people, I don’t like a big fuss so, we just wanted something super chill and fun for everyone, more of a party. The décor style was the same, simple, modern and neutral. I started off with what I wanted to do with flowers and then went from there.

The dress.

Simple, straight and just ‘me’ in a wedding dress. I wanted a cape, and I had seen this Carla Zampatti dress the start of 2016, and loved it. At that stage, we had no idea when we were getting married so I didn’t bother trying it on. So in September, when we decided we would get married in March, I went straight there and there was only one left in my size, and it was in Perth, so they sent it over and I loved it. It was the only dress I tried on. My dream dress for sure.

Favourite moments.

There are a couple. Seeing Aaron when I walked down the aisle –  he was so happy, had a few tears in his eyes and I was just over the moon! Aaron and my dad had a big hug which was super cute. And seeing our son London when he arrived in his suit at the house as I was getting ready, I cried.

Traditions.

No, none. We just wanted it super chill and not traditional.

Meaning of marriage.

To have that one person to experience everything in life with, the good, the bad and everything in between. Aaron is my best friend and I truly cant wait to do life with him. Unconditional love for that human!

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle:  Walking On A Dream by Empire Of The Sun.

Funny stories (or near disasters).

I’m sure there are so many! But one I remember is with my friends Luke and Andy who were setting up the reception for me. I had packed 200 cable ties in a box and bridesmaid Kim had brought them back to the house instead of leaving them with the boys, so he had to run to a hardware shop and buy more in between the ceremony and reception. Also that same GREAT friend Luke, had to come to Berwick from South Yarra at midnight the night before to pick up the big flower wall because it didn’t fit in my car – oops!

Words of wisdom.

Enjoy it! Don’t stress about the planning, don’t stress on the day, just have fun with all your friends and family, and of course your HUSBAND. It goes by so quickly, so just have fun.

Last words.

If you’re a florist, don’t do your own wedding flowers! Spend the few days beforehand relaxing
