Real Wedding – Tessa & Daniel, Ravenswood VIC

Tessa and Daniel’s dream day oozed country elegance and was nothing short of a fun-filled loved fest.

With a relaxed planning process and despite bride Tessa sizzling her hair on an open fire the night before the big day, everything went according to plan and their megawatt smiles tell the whole story.

Their wedding day has been documented by Yulia Pavlova Photography, with video by Paper Lion Collective, and we know it’s one you will simply adore.

In Tessa’s words…

The meeting.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and Daniel was a friend of the groom. We were introduced and hit it off from there.

The one.

Finding someone who shares the same outlook on life, relaxed, happy, playful and adventurous

The proposal.

One night after we had been for dinner, when I was wearing my old, comfy flannelette pajamas! It was bin night and I told Daniel to clean out his ute (he is a farmer so it was dirty..hahaha) and he came back inside with a big grin, holding up a beautiful diamond ring saying “look what I found whilst cleaning out the ute, will you marry me?,” and of course I said yes!

The planning.

I booked all the big things 12 months in advance (venue, music, photographer and celebrant) and then I just ticked off things as they happened and my mum and sister helped me along the way along with my lovely bridesmaids! I was a very relaxed and carefree bride leading up to the big day. I also had Daniel’s mum and aunty who were in charge of the desserts (they are Italian and love to cook, so that was a highlight for me seeing all the little desserts).

Style inspiration.

Rustic, country and elegant with a modern twist. I wanted raw features like the native trees and forest, as well as brick and timber. Having lived in the UK for three years I also wanted a dark, English, cosy feel to the reception, which was an open fire, exposed brick, long banquet tables down the middle of the venue. I had lots of deep tones in my flowers as well as bright and rose gold heavily featured throughout.

The dress.

A piece of art! My dream! My dress was the most beautifully handcrafted gown. It was made to measure by the beautiful Luci Di Bella (High Street Armadale), she made the process to relaxing, easy and I had full confidence it was everything I wanted. I just had to say a few words and she knew exactly what needed to go where. French hand beaded lace for the bodice and then crepe wall for the shirt, high split up the middle. It was so elegant, timeless and modern. So comfortable I didn’t want to take it off!

Favourite moments.

The night before was great, open outdoor fire, pizza, beers and our bridal party and family. The lead up of getting ready was special, I guess also my dad seeing me for the first time in my dress. Walking down the aisle was pretty amazing, seeing everyone and looking at Daniel (happy, excited and totally crapping his dacks!).

Meaning of marriage.

Forever and happiness.

Wedding soundtrack.

Song before the aisle: The Blower’s Daughter by Damien Rice

Aisle Song: Follow The Sun by Xavier Rudd

Signing of the Register: Only Love by Ben Howard

Exit: Fire and Flood by Vance Joy

First Dance: Don’t Stop Believin by The Jezabels, followed by everyone on the dance floor dancing to Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon.

Any funny stories (or near disasters).

I fried the end of my hair the night before sitting too close to the fire, it was very funny!!

Planning surprises.

How fast our photos were done (we were only gone for an hour in between the ceremony and reception) so we got to spend a lot of time with our guests just like we wanted!

Words of wisdom.

Relax, enjoy the preparations and don’t worry about all the small things, they don’t matter!
