Real Wedding – Fiona & Simon, Spring Hill VIC

Fiona and Simon took the stress out of planning their wedding by putting it into the hands of pop up wedding specialists, White Poppy Lane, who took care of it all!

The Little Church at Springhill was the perfect place for these two to declare their love under lush foliage with only their nearest and dearest there to witness the moment.  What followed was an intimate picnic and Simon and Fiona could relax knowing they celebrated their wedding day in their own way with Fox and Feather Photography there to capture it all.

In Fiona’s words…

The meeting.

We met back in September of 2005 when we were both working at good old McDonalds. Before we knew it we started dating and the rest is history.

The one.

Once we decided to buy a house together and finally once our first boy Isaac came along 4 years ago.

The proposal.

Simon took me out to dinner in St Kilda as we occasionally did. After that we went for a walk on the pier and we started to watch some fire works that were going off. Next minute, Simon was on one knee and asked me to marry him.

The planning.

The majority of the planning was done by White Poppy Lane via meetings, phone calls & emails. They were very professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with.

Style inspiration.

I got inspiration from my love of everything vintage. I use this inspiration to decorate our home.  Kate from White Poppy Lane had the vision for the day and it sure did exceed our expectations.

The Little Church is such a gorgeous and enchanting place in its own right.   We wanted to compliment this in a simple but captivating way.   The lush green foliage, white peonies, David Austins and seasonal blooms were the perfect match.  The cascading foliage was a stunning element with big impact!

Picnic areas were created where guests enjoyed post ceremony canapés and drinks hour.  A unique and personal touch White Poppy Lane provides in their Pop Up Weddings.

The dress.

My dress is a Vintage Mermaid style. I searched everywhere to find it and finally found what I was looking for at Melissa E Bridal in Ballarat. Once I tried it on I fell instantly in love with the dress and knew it was the one.

Favourite moments.

The moment when we were able to embrace and kiss each other after that all the pressure and emotions of the ceremony was all released.

Traditions.

We did not see each other dressed for the wedding until we saw each other at the church.

The meaning of marriage.

Now that we are married it feels like our family is now complete.

Planning surprises.

What surprised us was how amazing it looked once it was all put together, based on how you pictured it in your mind during the planning stage

Words of wisdom.

Our advice is to listen to the experts but also let them know how you would like things to look. Have lots of images of the style you want.

Last words.

We would advise you take the whole experience step by step because before you know it, its all over so enjoy the day and its okay to be a bit selfish as its all about you as a couple and nobody else.
