Masterclass Series, Rural Romance – Behind The Scenes

On a foggy morning we hit the highway to the world-renowned Pyrenees wine region for our inaugural workshop in our Masterclass series, ‘Rural Romance’. The one-day workshop, an opportunity for aspiring florists, stylists and photographers to bring a styled shoot to life alongside some of our industry’s best – was a chance for the participants to be inspired, learn invaluable skills, have hands-on experience while building their own portfolios.

Our host was the magnificent Mt Mitchell Homestead – a historic property established in 1838. It’s beautiful gardens, and significant homestead and outbuildings formed the perfect backdrop to create some ‘Rural Romance’.

As we all gathered in front of the stables, the excitement was palpable as we were all eager to start the day. An Ivory Tribe welcome along with delectable delights from Annie’s Kitchen, saw us kick things off as we introduced our guests specialists – stylist, Laura of Weddings of Desire, florist Danielle of Moss Industry and photographer, Stefani Driscoll.

We were lucky to be taken on a guided tour by property owner Kate, as we learned of Mt Mitchell’s history while location scouting for the perfect places to execute different shoot set ups. We were spoiled for choice with incredible blue stone facades, stables, rose garden, beautifully manicured hedging, picturesque lake and bushland.

Coming back to the stables we settled in to learn more about the collaborative process of a styled shoot with our specialists, Danielle, Laura and Stefani.  From the collaboration process, to social media sharing and every unexpected industry issue in between – participants joined on the conversation growing increasingly inspired by our on-hand experts.

Each participant was gifted with a goodie bag that had some essential tools and information to get them on their way.  We were incredibly spoiled by Project Ten, RibbonTies, Natural Supply Co and Mad About Cakes, whose wonderful wares were appreciated by all there.

It was time to get hands on as the stylists and florists determined a look and location, working to create numerous country-inspired stunning settings that have made for some truly memorable photographic moments.

While we madly worked, we still needed to be nourished and that came in the form of a feast of gourmet produce provided by Annie’s Kitchen. Set up on the sun-soaked lawn, we took a moment to take in our surrounds and fuel for the inspiration filled afternoon ahead.

As the sun began to set, it was only natural we celebrated an incredible day with a glass of bubbles and a sweet strawberry-filled cake by Mad About Cakes as we relished in the magic that was created.

Stay tuned for our follow-up post, including incredible moving footage from the talented Burgess Video, and the beautiful body of work our participants brought to life.
