The ‘Oyl Experience’ – wedding venue profile

For a couple looking to be be married in the very near future, we have something very special for you.  We recently welcomed an untapped Bellarine Peninsula venue, Oyl, into our Tribe. Sadly for brides and grooms, Oyl is undergoing a transformation and will no longer be hosting weddings from March 31, 2016. Despite this, there is still availability for bookings whether it be for a wedding, bridal shower, or engagement celebration.

We sat down with Oyl Director, Sarah Roe, to learn more about this special venue, what makes the space so unique and what guests have come to expect from the ‘Oyl experience’.

THE OYL EXPERIENCE

Making our way down the tree-lined lined driveway, there was an instant sense of calm and peace as we breathed in the fresh air, relaxed and made our way into this stunning venue.

There are a myriad of reasons as to why a couple would choose to be married at Oyl, though Sarah is quick to point out that it definitely suits a certain type of bride and groom. ‘Our venue suits couples that are understated, those searching for a less-is-more approach to their day.’ Oyl requires very minimal styling as the views over the olive grove provide a breathtaking backdrop for any type of celebration. Because of this, a couple can feel relaxed in knowing they can still provide a beautiful event, with minimal styling effort required.

A wedding ceremony can take place right in the centre of the olive grove, and Sarah loves observing guests as they take in their surrounds. ‘One of my favourite moments is watching the guests go from a love-filled ceremony, then spilling up to the verandah to watch the sunset as they enjoy canapes and a refreshing drink,’ she says. The venue really encompasses it all as guests can flow straight from the ceremony, into the reception while the bride and groom are photographed on-site – not missing a moment of their party.

Renowned for its gourmet fare, that includes only the freshest and best local produce, Sarah takes the time to get to know her clients and understand their needs. Each menu is specifically designed for the couple, according to their tastes and the style of wedding they are hosting. Sarah tells us that ‘nothing is stock standard about Oyl’ and she takes great pride in ensuring her clients feel included in her menu consultations. Oyl lends itself nicely to a smaller gathering of no more than 80 for a sit down meal over shared platters, or a three-course gastronomic delight. For larger groups, they love nothing better than creating a beautiful grazing table for guests to feast on while canapes or substantial cocktail food is shared amongst guests.

With amazing attention to detail and exuding warmth and care – Oyl is a venue that is flexible. No two celebrations are ever the same and they aim to make guests feel welcome and offer a seamless experience.

Oyl are happy to host private functions for any occasion.  Be it a glamorous bridal shower, an engagement soiree, or thirtieth celebrations, it’s worth enquiring with Oyl to see what they can offer, before this beautiful venue moves on.
