Real wedding – Diana & Giuseppe, Geelong VIC
Diana and Giuseppe set about creating an elegant and fun-filled wedding day for all of their guests to enjoy, and boy they did just that.
Tribe venue favourite, The Pier, Geelong, played host to their amazing celebration, that was filled with love, emotion, a twinkling ceiling of fairy lights and an abundance of fabulous florals.
It was the perfect way for two people so clearly head over heels for one another, to start their ever after.
Captured by the talented Tori and Sal, get swept up in the romance of this special soiree.
IN DIANA’S WORDS…
We met at our friend Angela’s 21st and did not get together until some eight years later! I saw him in Court and then he helped save a friend after a few too many drinks (after a short lived night at Toff) and after I thought he may be worth another look in. I also tried to set him up with a friend, but fell in love with him before they thankfully went on a first date!
I knew within the first few weeks of dating him that I would marry him. I love spending time with him so much and the way that he makes me feel. Everything is better when he is with me. I think everybody is similar in that they want to find love and it became obvious to me when even after months of seeing him that whenever he would message me, call me, ring the bell to come up to the apartment that I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face… He still waits at the door for me to come home and we have a dance after dinner every night. Nothing makes me feel happier than when we are together.
We had just been in Sri Lanka on the most incredible holiday and I remember saying to him, if you are thinking of proposing to me, please don’t do it here on a beach with a big love heart…! Then when we came home, he was holding me in his arms in bed and after listening to John Denver (Annie’s Song) he told me that I was his world and asked me to marry him.
My advice is the earlier you start planning the better! That said even the most organized of brides can find themselves writing their speech on the way to the wedding or while having their hair and makeup done!
We wanted the wedding to feel elegant and beautiful and for our guests to have a lot of fun. We had a roof full of little fairy lights to fill out the room so that you could still see the water even when it got dark, and candlelight to give off a soft effect. Then we had beautiful leafy green and white flowers to fill up the room and a flower canopy above the dance floor so when you were dancing, it smelt amazing. We both agreed early on that delicious food, spirits and a brilliant band make a wedding, so these things were also part of our focus.
The dress is from an Israeli designer called Berta. All of her dresses are really feminine and a bit avant-garde. I couldn’t have ever imagined myself in a big skirt or anything….as soon as I saw her dresses I thought yes that’s me, it was the second dress I tried on and as soon as my mum started crying and told me that it was the one, I had to have it.
Walking down the aisle and seeing my husband standing there in tears overwhelmed with love in front of all of our family and friends. My nonna who had terminal cancer and we were told wouldn’t make it for the day and who passed away shortly after our wedding, is what my mind constantly goes back to. I will never forget his face the first time I saw him that morning. I stood up a little bit taller.
We got married in the same church that my parent’s got married, my brother and sister-in-law and both sets of grandparents.
We also danced the tarantella and yes, as expected, there was an injury.
Meaning of marriage.
It means getting to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life. Letting someone else become my world. It means sharing the great times, the challenging moments, and the excitement of a future filled with unconditional love.

Funny stories (or near disasters).
Just the usual speech writing just before the church… Issues with boob tape and having our bridal party walk through some serious grass and rock climbing up the Dog Rocks (worth it!).
It didn’t matter that I had been planning for ages, that I had booked things in months before…No matter how much planning and time you put in to the planning, some things HAVE to be done right at the end and these things take AGES! So do yourself a favour and have at least one week off beforehand! There are so many unexpected things that crop up just before a wedding that you haven’t even thought could be a problem and then BOOM! So try and always remember that you are marrying the love of your life and that’s what its all about.
Words of wisdom.
Try and be as present as possible and take a few moments to just stop and take heed of what’s happening around you. If you are speaking to your friends, family, someone from the venue, really try and remember the conversations, the dancing, the smell of the flowers, the taste of the cake…everything. I tried really hard to take moments where I could to look around and commit so much of the day to my memory.
Sea view celebrations are sublime, so be sure to check out Simon and Jane’s Wye River wedding.
