Real wedding – Lauren and Tom, Bellarine VIC
Upon discovering the untapped gem that is the stunning Bellarine Peninsula venue, Oyl, Lauren and Tom could think of no other place to celebrate their wedding day.
Surrounded by just thirty of their nearest and dearest, their wedding was intimate and relaxed as they married by the stunning Oyl olive grove then watched the sun set on the perfect beginning to their life as husband and wife.
The gorgeous couple and their guests took to celebrating with a feast of the finest local produce, and Smitten Wedding Photography were on hand to capture the day in all its beauty.
In Lauren’s words…
We originally met in high school but didn’t become friends until 2 years later and the rest is history!
This is really silly but I knew Tom was the one when I found out he also collected train tickets and that we both have had nine teeth out. We are probably going to have to start saving now for any future children’s dental bills.
On Christmas day we were opening our presents in bed and he got down on one knee next to the bed.
The planning process.
We met Erin our wedding planner just over a year before our wedding. We met with her a few times in the lead up to the day as well as many, many emails and phone calls! As she lives down the Bellarine Peninsula and is very familiar with the area it was amazing having her source all the suppliers and bring everything together for our big day. We couldn’t have done it without her!
We both love summer and knew we had to have an outdoor summer wedding with a marquee. We also wanted a small wedding with close friends and family. It was important to us that it felt intimate and casual. The setting at Oyl, set among the olive groves, was truly amazing for both our ceremony and reception. We were married late afternoon and sat down for dinner and watched the sunset over the olive trees. It was perfect! I wanted everything to look and feel natural and simple. Erin our wedding planner did a fantastic job bringing our dream wedding together.
I didn’t want a long traditional dress. I wanted something shorter and simple. After going to a few bridal shops I realised I wasn’t going to find what I was after. So I took to Google and found my beautiful Nicholas The Label dress on the Iconic!
Joking around with the bridal party while taking photos was truly one of our favourite moments.
The meaning of marriage.
To me, marriage means being able to go through life’s adventures with your best friend.

Funny stories or near disasters.
The boys decided they didn’t need as long as the girls to get ready so went to the park to play cricket and were sunburnt before the ceremony! Luckily it wasn’t that noticeable.
Words of wisdom.
Do what you want to do. Don’t feel pressured to do things that other people want you to do. It is your day, make sure you enjoy it.
