Somewhere behind the showroom on Margaret Street, there’s a bench covered in the same tools Jack Hogan would have recognised. Eighty years and three generations on, Hogans still makes rings the long way: designed, cast, set and finished on site. Jack and Madeleine Hogan opened the business in 1945, working out of Griffith and Leeton before the family settled in Toowoomba, and they’ve been making rings for Queensland couples ever since. Jack’s grandson Lachlan leads the business now.

The bespoke process begins with a complimentary design consultation, either in the Toowoomba showroom or by video or phone if you’re further afield, then runs through design, crafting and setting in the workshop next door. They make women’s and men’s wedding rings, engagement rings across every cut and setting, and bridal jewellery, and they’ll also remodel or repair pieces you already own.
A few things set the service apart. Rings arrive sized, with complimentary resizing within two sizes either way if it isn’t quite right. Anyone can bring jewellery in for a complimentary check and clean, whether or not it came from Hogans. And anything bought through the online showroom ships free and express across Australia and New Zealand.
They’re members of the Diamond Guild Australia and were inducted into the Toowoomba Chamber Hall of Fame in 2022, with award-winning designers, qualified jewellers and gem-setters working alongside Lachlan.
