There’s a pool table. There’s a bar. There’s a chess board, private fitting rooms, lounge chairs, and absolutely no hurry about any of it. The Tailors Lounge built its Richmond showroom on a simple idea: that designing a wedding suit should be an experience you enjoy.
Which is why so many grooms bring the whole party along. A fitting here has a habit of turning into the sort of afternoon the group would have organised anyway — a drink at the bar, a game of pool, someone taking the chess board far too seriously — and somewhere in among it, everyone gets measured properly for a suit that makes the right kind of impact.
Co-founded by Dylan Marshall and Michael Payne, the studio works in made-to-measure only, with more than 5,000 fabrics and guidance across cut, lapels, linings, buttons and monogramming.
Consultations are complimentary and deliberately unhurried: you’ll try sample garments, talk through fabrics and leave with clear pricing rather than a vague sense of it. Wedding garments start from around $1,000, and that covers most customisation options plus every fitting adjustment along the way.
The staff at The Tailors Lounge are well practised at whole wedding parties, navigating different body types, budgets and opinions to land somewhere cohesive and elevated. If some groomsmen are interstate or overseas, remote measuring is coordinated using detailed guides and, where possible, trusted local tailors, with everything managed in-house so the group stays consistent.
For weddings, they suggest a free consultation six to nine months out, with final measurements taken closer to the date and a final fitting around a month before, though shorter timelines can usually be worked with.
Alongside suits, there are tuxedos, custom shirts, overcoats, shoes and accessories, and after-hours and weekend appointments can be arranged.
Considered, personal, and a genuinely good afternoon out.
“Had a great experience at The Tailors Lounge, Dylan and the team made me feel comfortable, my mates and I had a truly bespoke experience – Dylan took his time, was patient with my mates and made us feel at ease because I had no idea what I was doing!”
