Love You More is a Melbourne based boutique focused on designing and creating gorgeous gowns locally and minimising their impact on the environment as much as they can. We sat down with Kim Luong, the talented owner and designer of Love You More to understand more about how her gowns come to life, the process involved and she has also shared with us her latest 2022 collection, ‘Like Me’.

Kim, you’re the talent behind Love You More, how did you come to find yourself in the world of bridal fashion?

It runs in the family – my mum trained and worked in couture and I’ve followed in her footsteps. Because of her, I started sewing at a young age and developed a huge love of fabrics, design and all things fashion.

Your designs are breathtakingly beautiful, what inspires you throughout the creative process?

For the latest collection, I drew on real time conversations I had with brides during their fittings. This gave me a strong sense of the silhouettes and vibe I wanted for the new collection. I also love improvising with fabrics and letting a design evolve organically.

Can you explain the Love You More process when it comes to purchasing one of your gowns?

Start by booking your free appointment via our website. Every bride has exclusive use of the showroom for her appointment.

When you’ve found the ‘one’, we’ll carefully take your measurements and recommend the best size for you.

Place your order through the website and provide your wedding date.

Once we receive your order, all fabrics and trims for your gown are reserved (to ensure we can fulfil your order) and placed into our make schedule.

Just before we cut the fabrics for your gown, you have the opportunity to come in for a re-measure to confirm you’re happy with the size you’ve ordered.

We aim to complete your gown at least 8-10 weeks before your wedding so there is plenty of time for alterations (if needed).

Once your gown is complete, we get in touch to book an appointment for a final fitting and gown pick up.

We know sustainability matters to Love You More, can you share with us how you practice this within your business.

We make locally – our design, pattern making and production teams are all based in Melbourne. This supports local businesses and reduces our carbon footprint.

Made to order – each gown is cut and made only when an order is placed. There is no excess stock and minimises waste to landfill.

Eco-friendly packaging – every ‘MRS’ t-shirt is packed and shipped using 100% compostable (zero waste) bags and we provide our brides with re-usable garment bags to transport and store their gowns.

Going paperless – we provide information and details from dress fittings via email in lieu of printed cards. While a printed card offers us an opportunity to further promote our business at minimal cost, it’s less kind to the environment.

All your gowns are made-to-order, can you explain what this means and where are your gowns made?

A made-to-order gown is made especially for the bride who placed the order. We use her measurements to recommend the best size for her and make her gown based on our brand’s unique size chart. Our gowns are meticulously handmade from start to finish in Melbourne, Australia.

How far in advance should a bride order their gown from you?

We recommend you order your gown as soon as you know it’s the one or around eight months before your wedding. We carry a limited supply of fabrics for each of our designs so ordering early ensures you don’t miss out.

While known for your incredible gowns, what else can Love You More offer a bride-to-be?

A gown is never complete without accessories. Our range includes veils, dress bows, belts, scarves and bridal t-shirts. With the exception of our bridal t-shirts, all veils, belts and accessories can be customised. This includes our popular Midnight Stars pearl veil.
