Katie Heane of Olive Green Plant and Prop Hire has spent her life surrounded and inspired by indoor plants and beautiful gardens – she fondly remembers her parents making their own macrame plant hangers in the 70’s, and growing up in a house full of indoor plants.

In fact, Katie shares that her mum has super powers when it comes to gardening. “She has the most productive edible garden in all of Geelong,” she says.

 

It was this ingrained love of greenery, and working in the wedding industry as a bridal stylist at The Bridal Atelier, that Katie’s vision to combine her two passions drove her to create her thriving Geelong mecca of green goodness.

Plants have always been a part of major events, but as Katie explains, more and more people are now using plants to enhance even the most intimate of occasions. “When you add plants to your home interior,” Katie says, “the whole feeling and visual changes – and the same principals apply when adding plants to an event”.

 

Plants create a feeling of warmth and life, and with the use of beautiful props help to define your areas, the options are endless. “Our brides and grooms also want to define areas of their ceremony and reception,” Katie says. “Recently this is being done with pot and stand clusters. Defining the aisle with plant stands either side, and grouping different shape pots together. These clusters can be broken up after the ceremony and spread around the reception to creat layers and interest for your space.”

 

It doesn’t end at styling though. The Olive Green Plant and Prop team also make live bomboniere. Herbs, olive trees, vegetable seedlings, or any other plant can be used in a variety of pots to suit your style – all beautifully packaged to send on their way with your guests.
