Real elopement – Kyle & Shannon, Warrandyte VIC
The team at Elope Yarra Valley are in the business of bringing small dream days to life, and Kyle and Shannon took up this opportunity to create a simply stunning celebration with their nearest and dearest.
Some real riverside romance unfolded as this darling duo exchanged vows before celebrating with hugs and cheers from each of their delighted guests.
Taking a moment to revel in their newly-married status with only each other and their talented photographer Aria Photography, they then enjoyed an intimate and private dining experience with their 20 guests.
It couldn’t have been more perfect and a true representation of their love, which is all that really matters.
In Shannon’s words…
The meeting.
Kyle and I met in primary school, we parted and went to separate high schools. We then reconnected at a mutual friend’s pool party in year nine. We have made the rest history.
The ‘one’.
In year 4 when we were scrolling through real estate magazines… saying, “one day we will live here together,” and yes, of course they were the typical white picket fence.
The proposal.
We had been together for 13 years, we had returned home from swimming lessons with our two little ones (three year-old and one year-old) the house was chaos, I was prepping dinner and Kyle got down on one knee with a salad onion ring I had just chopped… I thought he was joking, I ate that ring, oops.
The process.
I was super relaxed with it, I had a vision and just rolled with it.
Style inspiration.
I wanted a low-key intimate ceremony and dinner, followed by a party. My inspo was pulled from my everyday love of pretty things. I LOVE pink.
The dress.
I knew I wanted something different, but not crazy. I went dress shopping. I loved my experience at Karen Willis Holmes, but didn’t find the ‘ONE’. I had previously seen a Rime Arodaky Jumpsuit that I LOVED, but didn’t have the time to order new. I got onto stillwhite.com.au where I found my dream dress, it was the jumpsuit I had loved but in a dress version. I was in Aus, it was in New York… I had a hairdressing client come to see me the day I had found it, believe it or not she was travelling to NYC the next week and was happy to inspect the dress and bring it home to me. I saw it as a sign and rolled with it, and I am so glad I did.
Favourite moments.
I cant say I have a favourite moment, I loved the entire day equally.
Meaning of marriage.
To be a family and love as one, to be on the same team and to always work together.
Wedding soundtrack.
Background music: Simple Things by Ziggy Alberts
Aisle: Hold by Vera Blue
Signing: You’ve Got The Love by Florence and the Machine
Recessional: Wedding Song by Angus & Julia Stone
Funny stories (or near disasters).
Just the typical toddler outfit meltdowns, otherwise I was rolling with the rest.
Planning surprises.
Obviously the cost of all things wedding all add up, I was surprised at how quickly that happened.
Words of wisdom.
Roll with it, don’t stress the small stuff.
Last words.
I Loved that we had such a short time to plan it (engaged at the end of August and married at the start of December). It meant I could not change my mind, I had to stick to my guns. I feel like the longer you have to plan the longer you have to ponder and the longer you have to divide payments and over spend.
