Real Engagement – Brigid & Troy, Jan Juc VIC
On a hot and stormy afternoon Brigid and Troy took some time out for a gorgeous engagement shoot by the beautiful ocean in Jan Juc.
Seeing the shoot as an opportunity to get to know their wedding photographer better and learn to relax in front of the camera, they were blown away by the results. As they excitedly prepare for their wedding day to be held at Ivory Tribe favourites RAVC Torquay, Smitten Photography perfectly captured their loving relationship and the excitement they are feeling as the count down to their wedding day begins.
IN BRIGID’S WORDS…
The meeting.
Troy and I were set up by mutual friends. We met at good old Beav’s Bar in Geelong! I was on my friend’s hens party, indulging in a few too many champagnes. From that night on we were inseparable, before making it official a month later. Last year we built our beautiful house in Torquay which we love, and in 5 weeks we will be married. We are so excited for the day!
The one.
We both knew when everything was just easy between us. We were comfortable with each other and so happy. We became best friends.
The proposal.
It was Christmas morning 2014 and I was exhausted from Christmas cooking the day before. At 7 in the morning Troy woke me up. I stumbled out of bed and he was sitting at the table with this big box he had put under the tree the night before. He looked really nervous! He handed me the box and inside was a beautiful letter he had written. I bawled my eyes out after reading it. When I looked over at him he was fumbling in his pocket. He pulled out a little black Charles Rose box and then bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him – I was crying so much, I had to go outside to get some air! Then I realised I hadn’t even said yes or looked at the ring. He chose the ring by himself and he did such a good job, I love my ring. It was such a special morning and it was amazing to celebrate with family all day.
Engagement shoot.
We chose to have an engagement shoot with our chosen and amazing wedding photographers (Smitten Wedding Photoraphy) as it was a great way to become familiar with Jemima. It’s also something special that we can keep forever and we never get any nice photos together without Troy pulling a silly face!
Shoot location.
Jan Juc beach. We live down here and thought it would be perfect. We hope to get some shots down there on our wedding day also.
Favourite moment.
Watching the storm blow over and then standing out on the reef in the middle of the ocean – the water was incredible. It was such an amazing night, hot and steamy and just beautiful. Though we were both sweating up a storm!
Wedding planning process.
It has been so much fun! We have done a lot of it together as a team and my mum and my sisters have been a huge help. Troy has been excellent with checking in with things and seeing where we are at. He also came up with the idea of having a Scotch bar at the wedding which he is very excited about! I have loved getting ideas from Ivory Tribe, and all of my suppliers and the girls at RACV Torquay have been so incredible too.
Wedding planning surprises.
Finding out two of my best friends, one of which is a bridesmaid on the day, are pregnant! So exciting! One of them is actually due on the date of our wedding. She is doing a reading for us at the church so we are hoping she makes it!
Meaning of marriage.
Sharing life with your soul mate and best friend, having fun together.
