Real Wedding – Alicia & Tim, Coldstream VIC
Alicia and Tim’s wedding day dreams were brought to life when wild and wonderful florals and foliage met a stunning custom Georgia Young Couture gown, at a revered Yarra Valley wedding venue. Talk about all-over elegance.
The day began calmly as they had enlisted a trusted Tribe to support them every step of the day, guiding them from start to finish and executing their plans to perfection.
The Coldstream celebration of this gorgeous duo was all about celebrating their love with those they love, and their emotional ceremony and jam-packed dance floor at night’s end, proved all of this to be true.
Georgia Verrells was there to document this day and she has done so just beautifully.
In Alicia’s words…
The meeting.
We met in our first year of university, both studying the same degree. We were good friends for a year, before we started dating.
The ‘one’.
Almost straight away! He can make me laugh like no one else, and makes me want to be the best version of myself that I can be.
The proposal.
I had been living interstate for six months for work. Tim came to visit me for the Australia Day weekend and proposed over dinner at his family’s beach house in Flinders. We then spent the remainder of the long weekend at Mitchelton winery, relaxing and celebrating together.
Style inspiration.
We both hoped to have a relaxed wedding in a venue that was known for its open spaces and simplicity, mixed with a contrast of wild and over-the-top florals and foliage. Zoe from I Heart Flowers was the champion in achieving the perfect balance, and bringing this all together.
The dress.
I had tried on more traditional wedding dresses, however none of them seemed to fit my personality, and I always dreamed of being a more modern bride. My dress was a custom design by Georgia Young Couture. I knew I wanted something quite simple in fabric with the detail in the cut and make of the dress, with statement jewellery. Georgia was amazing from start to finish, and did everything from designing and making my dress and veil, to helping me choose the perfect earrings to match.
Favourite moments.
Spending time with family and friends by our side, helping us to celebrate the love we have for one another. And seeing all of our guests dancing together at the end of the night!
Meaning of marriage.
Committing to spend your life with a person who understands you better than anyone else – marriage is supporting each other through the harder times, but remembering to pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate the wins!
Wedding soundtrack.
Procession: Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel
Reception entry: A Punk by Vampire Weekend
First dance: Dream a Little Dream of Me by The Mamas and the Papas
Song Following First Dance: Valerie by Mark Ronson (feat. Amy Winehouse)
Last song: Mr Brightside by The Killers
Funny stories (or near disasters).
No disasters! I’m a pretty organised person, so I had done as much as I possibly could have by the time the wedding arrived. The morning was spent with my bridal party, sipping champagne and getting our hair and makeup done.
Planning surprises.
The amount of work that is put into organising the day! Whilst the day ran almost effortlessly, a huge amount of work went on behind the scenes.
Words of wisdom.
If there is a vendor that you have your heart set on, make sure to get in early!
