Real Wedding – Ambar & Christopher, Collingwood VIC

With a distinctly industrial vibe in honour of the city they love and call home, Ambar and Chris’ Collingwood celebration became a modern and elegant display of their love.

From Ambar’s striking two-piece d’Italia ensemble, to a mind-blowingly beautiful floral display and a ceremony that will stay with them forever, their wedding day was as glorious as their marriage is set to be.

This perfect pair loved the planning process and trusted their Tribe implicitly to bring their dream day to life. To finally be announced as ‘Mr and Mrs’ simply added the icing on the cake.

There to capture it all, was I Got You Babe, and trust us  – they didn’t miss a beat.

The meeting.

In this modern world, we met online, we are so thankful for this as we don’t believe we would of crossed paths otherwise. It was meant to be!

The ‘one’.

This is hard to put into words, for us it was a feeling in the first couple of months. When you know, you just know!

The proposal.

We absolutely love Fitzroy Gardens! Chris surprised me with a picnic at our favourite spot and popped the question while I took a gulp of coffee. I turned around and he was on one knee, such a lovely surprise but it took everything for me to not choke on my coffee!

The process.

We did a lot of the planning in the first few months and locked all the vendors in. We then began to finalise everything about one month before the wedding. We did not find the process stressful, which was such a relief. We need to thank all the vendors for this as they were all wonderful.

Style inspiration.

We absolutely love the industrial vibe that Melbourne has to offer so we ran with this. Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood really inspired this as we loved the high ceilings and exposed beams with so much greenery and industrial vibes! This really set the style and tone for the wedding! (We really didn’t need to do much.)

The dress.

I never could see myself wearing a traditional wedding dress, I wanted something different and modern. I was inspired by Rihanna’s 2014 Met Gala look as I absolutely adore her. I knew I needed to get this custom made, I really believe it was meant to be as d’Italia was the first store I visited and they just nailed the fabric and vision I had so it was all booked in within 30 minutes!

Favourite moments.

For the both of us we were extremely nervous about the ceremony and the reading of our vows. Our favourite moment was when we were announced as Mr and Mrs, it was just such a magical moment when we walked down the aisle hand in hand with the support of all of our loved ones! Our photographer, Lilli captured this beautiful moment as we shared a kiss outside of the venue and we will cherish this forever!

Meaning of marriage.

Marriage to us is solidifying our bond and friendship that we will have for the rest of our lives. It is a promise we have made together to always support each other and to grow together.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Can’t help falling in Love by Elvis Presley – We absolutely love this song, so this was our aisle song played by a strings duo.

Reception entry: Finesse by Bruno Mars

Cake cutting: Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars

Bouquet toss: Marry You by Bruno Mars

Funny stories (or near disasters).

We were so lucky not to have any disasters but a funny moment we had, which Chris hates to bring up, is when we were reading our vows. Chris accidentally said awful instead of lawful. This made everyone including myself burst into laughter, such a candid moment and extremely sweet as he was very nervous!

Planning surprises.

How easy it was! I did start the process thinking that everything must be a certain way but after listening and trusting in all the vendors and allowing them to take control, it just made everything so much easier and took the stress away.

Words of wisdom.

Have an open mind! Don’t try to control everything as you have chosen your vendors for a reason. Allow them to be creative wherever you can as they will understand your vision and create something you potentially could not of imagined yourself. They have so much experience and really know what works, you need to take advantage of this!
