Real Wedding – Brooke & Grant, Chirnside Park, VIC

When the ultimate venue for your wedding is also the family farm, putting the perfect day together is truly a team effort. Committed to realising their dream with the help of their families, Brooke and Grant opted for a luxe farm feeling that delivered the perfect day to their 70 guests.

Captured in light-filled virtuosity by Love Bomb Photos, we think you’ll love this gorgeous celebration as much as we do.

The meeting.

On the hunt for a new cricket club, Brooke was watching a women’s practice game when Grant caught her eye. She signed up for more than a new club that day.

The one.

The first time I saw Grant reverse his car with the trailer on!

The proposal.

Grant hijacked a weekend trip to Cape Schanck that I had organised for us. It took me completely by surprise! We’d been out for a hike, relaxed by the pool, enjoyed a drink at the bar and a wonderful meal with paired wines, but it wasn’t until we got back to our room and changed into our robes that he got down on one knee and asked me.

Planning process.

Even before their engagement Brooke and Grant would chat about their ideal wedding, so they went into the planning process with some ideas in mind. They were incredibly fortunate to be able to hold their wedding at Grant’s family farm. With the support of their families, they pulled it all off, organising every vendor and looking after every small detail. They worked with mainly local vendors and were very happy with their decisions.

Just as important was the process of getting the property into top shape to provide the perfect backdrop for the celebrations. This was a months-long effort- plus the pack down process! Truly a team effort, everything came together perfectly. The goal was to ‘working bee’ the way to the perfect day, and the results are a testament to a true group effort.

Style inspiration.

Against the stunning backdrop of the Yarra Valley, the ‘fancy farm feel’ vibe shone, with simple earthy tones and complementary styling.

The ceremony.

We wanted it to have an intimate and relaxed feel about it, where everyone could come together and feel part of one special moment. Our guests cheered as my bridesmaids and I walked down the aisle, which immediately put me at ease. After that, I was in my own world, it was just the two of us.

The outfits.

My dress was completely different to what I thought I wanted in a wedding gown. It was classical, crêpe and off-the-shoulder. It hugged in all the right places and paired perfectly with a pearl veil, pearl earrings, and an effusive bunch of native flowers. Grant and his groomsmen had tailor-made suits from YSG, choosing everything from the suit colours, right down to the embroidery on the inside of the jackets and the buttons.

Favourite moments.

Our sunset photos, it was a moment for us to be alone and take in the day. Everyone tells you it goes by quickly, and it really does. We got to walk, dance and sit in the grass of the paddock at the top of the farm and listen to the party down the hill as the sun set. It was a beautiful time that was just for us.

Meaning of marriage.

Waking up each morning and putting on my two beautiful rings. Every time I can introduce Grant as my husband. The way it’s brought our two wonderful families closer together.

Wedding soundtrack.

Ceremony: When You Say Nothing at All by Ronan Keating, Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay and Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton. The songs were played live by acoustic duo Utah, from Hey Jack.

Funny stories or near disasters.

I was so worried about our six month old son, who was looked after by our family members on the way. But he had a ball! My only regret was not spending more time with him on the day, I felt like I hardly saw him.

Planning surprises.

The planning was stressful towards the end and we were still working on the morning of the wedding. We had a wonderful team of family and friends who brought everything together in the final hours before kickoff, and it looked absolutely sensational.

Words of wisdom.

Don’t sweat the small stuff, because nobody notices those things except for you and you won’t notice it on the day! Instead, take the time to be together and soak it all in.
