Sarah and Cam’s bright and beautiful celebration was a feast for the senses. The playful pair said their I-do’s on an extremely hot, 43 degree summer’s day. However, they didn’t let the heat get in the way of a their day and they partied into the night under their sweet tipi setting.

Sarah was a vision in her lace Rue De Seine gown, accessorised by a beaming smile and gorgeous bright blooms. While she admits she had some pre-wedding jitters ten minutes prior to the ceremony, she was a picture of calm and excitement as she hit the aisle –  truly the picture-perfect bride.

There to capture the colour of this incredible special day was Daniel Sheehan of Sheehan Studios.

The meeting.

Cam was working at a bottleshop! Sarah came in to buy drinks for a party.

The proposal.

Cam proposed Christmas morning, in front of our Christmas tree.

The planning.

Sarah and her mother pretty much organised everything! We started with the idea of having a very relaxed fun day celebrating with our family and friends, and Sarah has always wanted to get married at her parent’s property so we went from there to work out the details.

Style inspiration.

Sarah: I like an eclectic mix of colours and style, my mum has a lot of antique furniture that we were able to use. I also loved the look of the tipis and bright colours, so had to work out a way to incorporate both. It came together and the theme eventually was “18th century English bachelor takes all his belongings on a ship to start a new life in Australia and gets shipwrecked on a jungle island along the way, so he salvages the furniture and starts a Gentlemen’s smoking club in a tipi”.

The dress.

My nanna actually picked it out for me at the Bridal Atelier, it was a lace Rue de Seine gown.

Favourite moments.

Cam: The elation I felt after the ceremony, hugging and celebrating with all my closest friends and family.

Sarah: Getting to marry my best friend, and celebrating with a beautiful shared dinner with our families and friends.

Traditions.

Cam’s family is Catholic so we had a priest from his church come to the property to marry us.

Meaning of marriage.

Committing to your best friend for life, to have each others backs and be on the same team.

Wedding soundtrack.

All I want is you by Barry Louis Polisar

Mess is Mine by Vance Joy

Funny stories (or near disasters).

It was 43 degrees on our wedding day, so you can imagine the sweat on Cam’s face! It lead to many guests indulging in drinks very early, but I think they had a good time.

Planning surprises.

Sarah: I expected I would be a nervous wreck all day, but I was very calm and excited, until everybody started arriving and I could peep at them all though the window. I had a bit of a meltdown 10 minutes before the ceremony just seeing so many people outside, but some champagne helped with that!

Words of wisdom.

Make your day a reflection of you, and what you like.

SARAH & CAM’S TRIBE

Location: Sarah’s parents property, Clyde North, Victoria.

Officiant: Fr Jeff Kleynjans from St Michael’s Parish, Berwick

Photography: Sheehan Studios – Daniel was amazing, he came as our booked photographer was not able to make it. He put me at ease right away, and worked out in the heat all day getting some amazing shots. He also sent us a preview on his website a few days after our wedding which was just wonderful.

Styling: Sarah, her mum Kerrie and our dear friend, Emily Sier.

Florist: Naomi Rose Floral Design – Naomi was such a great florist, I only needed to meet her once, show her a few pictures and give her an idea of what I wanted and what she came up with was even better than I imagined! Because the day ended up being 43 degrees, Naomi delivered the bouquets and flower crowns earlier, then came back in the evening with all the table flowers and set them up, which was so thoughtful of her.

Tipi’s: Tipikata – Simone at Tipikata was fantastic, she fielded all my calls and nothing was too much trouble. She was happy for us to come along to see a tipi set up before the wedding day to get an idea for layout, went over endless floor plans with me, and came out to check out our site a couple of times.

Makeup: Adele Sarah Beauty

Hair: Ebony at Temples 4 Hair – Ebony and Adele were fantastic, they got up super early to come and make us all up, and did such a great job the girls all looked beautiful.

The dress: Rue De Seine from The Bridal Atelier

Bridesmaid’s dresses: Lover, Bardot, Seduce, Bec & Bridge, Thurley

Groom’s suit: Jack London

Catering: Ricky Holt Catering – Ricky and his team were just amazing. Ricky met with us a few times before the wedding and ended up being something of a wedding coordinator, liaising with all the other vendors, setting the tables, chasing me around making sure I had food and drink all day. The dinner was also so delicious, we had share platters at the tables which let everyone socialize and eat as much as they wanted! He really went above and beyond for us.

Ice cream cart: Short Batch – So glad we had ice-cream in the hot weather!

Midnight food truck: The Dude Food Man

Cake / Cake topper: Uncle Gary Cooper
