Real Wedding – Cass & Cam, Bittern VIC

It was nine years before things finally kicked off for Cam and Cass, having met at a friend’s birthday party when they were just 16. But what came to fruition, was a beautiful, love-filled relationship and by the time it came around, their wedding day was no different.

It was held outdoors at Cam’s parents farm in Bittern, Victoria, with touches of white florals and glorious greenery combined with sprouting branches of olive leaves to give a subtle Mediterranean vibe.

Cass wore a beautifully embellished Suzanne Harward gown whilst Cam donned a black tux and boy did they look the part. Meriki from Simple Ceremonies took their guests on a journey through their relationship and the photography team from Lou Lou Memphis made these two feel like absolute rockstars. Which was fitting, as for the reception – they partied like rockstars too.

Their DJ served up some fine tunes on their outdoor dancefloor but it was their private sunset walk, with the two of them soaking up each others’ company that made the night even sweeter.

The meeting.

Cam and I met when we were 16 at a mutual friend’s birthday party, there was an instant connection however it wasn’t until we were 25 that the timing was right for the both of us to start dating and the rest is history!

The ‘one’.

After traveling through Canada and America together for 9 months in 2018.

The proposal.

Cam surprised Cass with a trip away to Bright, Victoria in March 2021. When they arrived at the Airbnb they went for a walk around the property. They found themselves at the Ovens River where Cam got down on his wobbly knee and popped the question, Cass made Cam the happiest guy in the world when she said YES.

Planning process.

As soon as we got engaged we both knew how special it would be getting married at Cams parents farm. Cass used to work in events and had planned weddings before & had a good idea of what was involved.

Style inspiration.

We always loved garden weddings, we wanted it to be relaxed with a touch of mediterranean.

Blogs/IG’s like Ivory tribe are a great way to find wedding inspiration and ideas that might suit your space & vibe. Looking at a lot of different outdoor weddings, I found it useful when finding similar ideas and looks that matched what I was after.

The ceremony.

We had the ceremony in the front paddock overlooking the property.

The look.

Cass wore a gown from Suzanne Harward, it was the only store she went to and the first dress she tried on. She instantly fell in love with it and put a deposit on that afternoon. Cam and his groomsmen spent an afternoon in the city and bought black suits from MJ Bale. Cam wore a black tuxedo.

Favourite moments.

Our sunset walk. It gave us a chance to talk and take in the last few hours together.

Meaning of marriage.

A shared journey through life, loving and supporting your best friend and soul mate. To truly care, protect, cherish, & grow together.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Everywhere by Fleetwood mac

Recessional: Gabrielle by Dreams

First Dance: You send me by Aretha Franklin

Funny stories or near disasters.

We were very lucky, apart from a small number of covid cancelations, it was smooth sailing.

Planning surprises.

Despite planning weddings before, Cass underestimated how long everything took to plan and organise.

Words of wisdom.

Once you find a good supplier lock them in and move on to the next thing. If you are planning your own wedding, try to have someone on the day (not a guest) who can assist with last minute errands & odd jobs.
