Real Wedding – Christina & Wil, Albert Park VIC

Christina and Wil’s wedding day may have started off on the wrong foot (a broken foot, to be specific), but that didn’t put a dampener on their dream day, which saw them dancing to the Zorba well into the night.

This perfect pair kicked off their celebrations with a heartfelt Church ceremony, followed by a spectacular reception at Carousel in Albert Park,  boasting the loveliest of lakeside views. They kept their styling light and bright with beautiful blush tones, perfectly executing the modern, urban feel they were hoping for.

Tribe talent, Ali Bailey was brought on board to snap their day, and the results are truly beautiful!

In Christina’s words…

The meeting.

We actually met via Tinder, when the app launched!

The ‘one’.

When we both met each other’s families and realised how similar they were and how that had influenced our values.

The proposal.

Wil planned a beautiful weekend away in Mount Martha for the last weekend of summer. He was trying to wrestle me away from the beach to head to Foxey’s Hangout for a drink, but I was too busy basking in the sun to move. After extensive persuasion, we finally made it to the winery (and I was glad we did).

The process.

It’s defiantly a ride. We found the excitement came in waves, then the organisational reality hit and excitement was pushed to the side. Then there was the slight anxiety that everything is going to unfold as per the vision you have been developing. I didn’t believe people when they told me, but it’s true ‘don’t sweat the small stuff’.

Style inspiration.

Light and bright. We wanted it to feel open and free, yet still have a modern, urban feel, hence our selection of Carousel with it’s gorgeous floor to ceiling windows, and deck overlooking the lake and CBD.

The dress.

I only tried on one dress before visiting Cappellazzo. I knew what I wanted and loved when I met Sonja; she wasn’t afraid to tell me what would suit me and what wouldn’t – I loved her honesty!

Favourite moments.

The Greek dancing. Looking out on the dancefloor and seeing people from all different parts of our lives, arm-in-arm, Greek dancing together. Not everyone knew the steps, but we loved seeing everyone coming together with such joy.

What does marriage mean to you?

A partnership. Someone to help lift you, be honest with you and ride the highs with you.

Wedding soundtrack

Entry: Mo Money Mo Problems by The Notorious B.I.G. We loved the ‘I’m coming…’ intro to walk out to and knew it would make us dance.

First dance: Is this Love? by Corrine Baily (Cover)

Funny stories (or near disasters).

I broke my foot on my wedding day. I was in the hair and makeup chair for 90mins with my legs cross and then when I finally stood up to have a look in the mirror, I had lost feeling in my right leg so didn’t land flat on my right foot and fractured my 5th metatarsal. I managed to ignore it (even dancing the Zorba on a broken foot) but the next day I couldn’t walk and was in a moon boot for 3 months.

Planning surprises.

How quickly it turns from fun to admin!

Words of wisdom.

Pick the things that matter to you both and invest your energy and budget there (is it food or drinks or live music?) Don’t try and do it all.
