Real Wedding – Daniela & Tim, Eganstown VIC

Combining their love of the countryside and magic of the great outdoors, Daniela and Tim worked to create an intimate and magical private property wedding celebration, surrounded by their favourite people, some breathtaking views, and best of all – no set finish time.

The pair soaked up the emotion of the day as they took to walking down the aisle side-by-side, and with boho touches to their styling, some impressive tipi’s to house the celebrations, and a just-as-fun recovery session planned for the following day – they had the time of their lives.

Tribe favourite Aleksandar Jason was on hand to document this natural wonder, a day Daniela and Tim will never forget.

In Daniela’s words…

The meeting.

We met in June 2006 while I was here from Germany as an au pair for three months. We met through our mutual friend Chris who introduced us for the first time, and we were both sitting in the back of his car. The first memory I have with Tim was him asking me “Would you like some of my wine, it’s a cheap one?”

The ‘one’.

When I made my final decision to stay in Australia to be with Tim (around 2009).

The proposal.

We were on a holiday in Mexico and sitting on a beach-lifeguard tower after dinner. It was super dark and we were making out. Tim suddenly stopped and stuck the ring in my face saying “Danny, will you marry me?”. He then told me that he wanted to say so much more in that moment, but he was too nervous. He also said, “I am so glad I finally did it!!”.

On this holiday we had also visited New York, where he attempted to propose a couple of times. Once he told me this everything made so much more sense because he had acted weird on his attempts. But he decided that those weren’t right moments.

Style inspiration.

We love the countryside and the outdoors, so it definitely had to be an outdoor setting with beautiful views. We also wanted to decide ourselves when the night is over (rather than finishing at 11pm at a venue), so we had the wedding on a private property. We both agreed that we wanted to keep it fairly small, so we only invited family and close friends.

The dress.

Well… I had to wait until five months before the wedding to find the right dress, as I had our baby girl Marlie six months before the wedding. So I looked online for months and months and couldn’t find one that I really loved. Then I checked a few bridal stores but they also didn’t have the ‘one’. I ended up buying a dress on from a lovely mum-to-be.

I always wanted a lace dress with a beautiful open back, which is what I ended up getting.

Favourite moments.

Tim and I walked down the aisle together and had this moment where we looked at each other saying ‘Woah.. it’s our wedding day! All these months of planning.. and it’s here!!’

Meaning of marriage.

Being a team.

Finding compromises.

Funny stories (or near disasters).

The beautiful tree that we got married under lost one of its biggest limbs just a month after we said yes underneath it. That definitely would have been a disaster. Luckily no one was near the tree when it happened.

Planning surprises.

Tim and his cousin spent four days setting up the site and building the ceremony/dancefloor area under the tree. This took more time than expected but it played such an important part of our day.

Words of wisdom.

We had a recovery or wind-down day the day after the wedding, which was a great way to spend more time with our guests and have real conversations without the stress and nervousness of the wedding day. It’s nice if you have a bunch of overseas/interstate guests coming for your wedding.

I asked Tim this questions and he said: If anything goes wrong on the day just go with it.

When it comes to real weddings – we sure see some stunners. Catch up on some of our favourites by visiting our most popular blogs page here.
