Real Wedding – Elise & Daniel, Flowerdale VIC

An historic homestead in the Yarra Valley was the perfect location for Elise and Daniel to declare their love for one another.

This delightful duo wanted a relaxed day that was elegant in style and for their guests to enjoy an outdoor country affair. Gorgeous greenery and pops of white and gold ensured there was a fresh and fun vibe and there were sweet personal touches that reflected them both.

Elise and Daniel took some time out to have incredible sunset photos taken, giving them a moment to be alone, take it all in and revel in the celebration they had beautifully created. Capturing these moments perfectly was Duuet.

In Daniel and Elise’s words…

The meeting.

Daniel and Elise met over 11 years ago working at a local supermarket. Elise was automatically attracted to Daniel and he showed off by making paper airplanes out of receipt paper. Daniel got a job in sales and Elise remained there whilst finishing Year 12. It wasn’t until Daniel’s 21st that they shared their first kiss. On April 11th 2008, they made it official and became boyfriend and girlfriend.

The ‘one’.

Elise knew from day one, it was Daniel’s warm smile and kind heart that she fell in love with and continues to find more reasons to, to this day.

The proposal.

Daniel and Elise went on a trip to Thailand in April 2017 to celebrate their 9-year anniversary. Thailand was a special place for them as that was their first overseas holiday together 8 years earlier. At 6am on April 11th, their anniversary, Daniel and Elise went down to the beach with a bottle of bubbly to watch the sunrise. Daniel asked Elise to walk down to the shore with him, whilst she was looking out he stood behind, bent down on one knee in the sand and asked her to spend forever with him. She couldn’t say ‘yes’ quick enough. Daniel was so clever and had set up a camera on the beach umbrella and captured the entire proposal.

Style inspiration.

We are very relaxed people so we knew we wanted to get married outdoors, in the garden. We didn’t want to go down the rustic road even though we wanted to get married in the country, we decided on relaxed elegance as our theme. Flowerdale Estate was perfect for the wedding we wanted. Lots of greenery, with pops of white and gold was the colour scheme.

The dress.

I actually bought a gown as soon as we got engaged. Over time, I realised it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I went to Karen Willis Holmes in Armadale and fell in love with her feminine style. It fit our ‘relaxed elegance’ theme perfectly. I walked into their showroom one day with my Mum and bridal party, the gown was the only one on a mannequin inside the store and as soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew it was the one.

Favourite moment.

To be honest, we loved every minute. Daniel and I took the opportunity to get some photos taken at sunset, just the two of us, alone for a few moments – that was pretty special. We kissed, we held each other and just took some time to soak it all in. It was beautiful.

Meaning of marriage.

Marriage to us is a promise to loving one another forever, always putting each other first, and being there through good times and bad. The wedding day was a celebration of our love and lifelong commitment to one another in front of our beautiful families and closest friends.

Wedding soundtrack.

Funny stories (or near disasters).

We wanted a gorgeous hedge wall for behind the bridal table. My beautiful father built a hedge wall from scratch, the fencing, the faux leaves and we had acrylic signage of our names made. Four days before the wedding my father was trying to manipulate the sign to attach it to the hedge wall and snapped Daniel’s name in half. He is such a handyman and superglued that sign back together and no one knew a thing – thank goodness!

Words of wisdom.

Have fun! You’re planning the best day of your lives, don’t let the small things distract you from what the day is all about, and that is, the two of you and your love for one another!

Annie and Ash’s Bairnsdale celebration was a beauty, be sure to check it out.

DANIEL AND ELISE’S TRIBE

Ceremony & Reception venue / location: Flowerdale Estate – the team at Flowerdale Estate were beyond incredible! Maria and her beautiful team, Claire, Craig Michelle and Co took our breath away from day one. There was nothing that was too difficult or couldn’t be done. They were always available to answer hundreds of our questions and made the entire experience of planning our wedding an absolute dream. So much so, Daniel and I visited the venue about 10 times! I cannot thank them enough!

Celebrant/Officiant: Elisa Westein – Elisa was a breath of fresh air. Daniel and I immediately connected with Elisa on our first meeting and she was one of the best decisions we made. She took care of all the offical documents, calmed our nerves and ensured that we were able to enjoy the ceremony
