Real Wedding – Emily & Luke, Sorrento VIC
Emily and Luke’s vibrant, infectiously effervescent day is simply radiant from start to finish. Bold, bright colour choices coalesce with the classic elegance of the venue, The Intercontinental Hotel, to create a sense of fun and effortless joy, woven seamlessly through every element by super-talented stylists and planners, Logan Events.
We love Emily’s and Luke’s ‘fits, both perfectly appropriate for the significance of the occasion, but with that certain something that elevates the look from chic to fab. Accents of Barbie pink in her perfect pumps, florals in sweet summer hues and a tablescape dotted with lavender haze epitomise the trend flavours of the moment.
There to ensure the soundtrack lifted the vibes to perfection was Logan Entertainment, taking the guests from stunning ceremony to epic dance floor flawlessly.
Every frame by superstar Jess Nicholls equally captures the aesthetic beauty of the day and the unbridled emotion – and we can’t get enough!
Join us in diving into this one for a bright, bold, endorphin rush.
The meeting.
We met at work.
The one.
There’s no one moment. We just wanted the same things. It felt very easy and made sense.
The proposal.
We were away for the weekend in Paris. I did not expect a thing! The trip was very last minute, and I was busy at work. (We lived in London at the time). Looking back, I was in shock and Luke seemed nervous but if you’re not expecting a proposal, you miss all the cues.
Planning process.
We were moving back to Australia after living overseas for four years so this was definitely not a DIY wedding moment. We were very happy to be in the safe hands of our wedding planner Dani from Logan Events. A few phone calls to brainstorm and she took care of it all!
Style inspiration.
It was a May wedding, and the venue had an old-world charm, so we were very happy to lean into that. However, we were still after a bit of colour and fun! Bright flowers, hot pink heels, statement bridesmaid dresses, a green suit for the groom – adding a bit of ‘extra!’
The ceremony.
The room was covered in flowers, candles and the Invictus Quartet set the tone with gorgeous string music. I could hear the room bursting with chatter and energy from our guests, which is very much more our vibe – a party! The ceremony was short and sweet, meaning more time for celebrations after but Alana our celebrant happily tailored the moment to what we wanted. We also tried to include our whole family – including having our young two-month-old nephew and three-month-old niece as our pageboy and flower girl – carried down the aisle by my brother and Luke’s sister. The little ones stole the show!
The outfits.
I think not trying to find the perfect outfit was important to keep in mind, so there wasn’t any pressure. Removing the word perfect from our vocabulary during the whole process made everything ten times more enjoyable – and it actually resulted in the most ideal outfits for everyone!
Favourite moment.
Our first look and photos before the ceremony. We hired a beach house nearby the venue, and we took a lot of photos in the giant garden out the back. It meant all our immediate family and wedding party could share a moment and pre-drink together before the official wedding started. Jess our photographer also made this part of the really fun and enjoyable. She was an expert at relaxing everyone, to feel natural and to capture wonderful pictures.
Meaning of marriage.
A commitment of sticking by each other, no matter what. It’s a deep love and understanding of one another and putting each other first.
Wedding soundtrack.
We had the wonderful Invictus Quartet play at the ceremony and reception. We have a wide taste of music so adding beautiful strings to the start of the day meant we could play a range of songs we love – rock, musical theatre, classical, pop – but all sounding like the same genre.
Words of wisdom.
Don’t take it too seriously and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. The day will honestly fly, and you’ll be in a bubble of happiness. On the day nothing can bother you so don’t stress about what you have/haven’t done in the lead up.
I didn’t have a bride gene but we both love a party – that was the energy we took into planning our wedding. We wanted to bring all our loved ones together and have a great time with them – and by default we ended up creating our perfect wedding!
For a coast meets bushland celebration, that has perfect pops of colour, be sure to see Mille and Jye’s sweet soiree that was both vibrantly chic and effortlessly stunning.
