Real Wedding – Georgia & Mitch, Springmount VIC
Georgia and Mitch threw the ultimate festival-style wedding for their guests and made it a celebration to remember.
With food trucks aplenty to keep the festival vibe alive, and a sweet and sentimental ceremony by Tribe favourite, Niki Currie – not even a freak thunderstorm and power outage could dampen the spirits of these lovebirds.
Captured by Isaac Brown and Gerard Wood Photography, this super fun wedstival will give you all the feels.
In their words…
The meeting.
I used to visit Georgia at her workplace every Friday and buy shirts for dates with other girls. Georgia used to purposely sell me oversized, terrible looking shirts and tell me they looked great! I guess her plan worked a treat!
The one.
We just connected and got on so well from the day we met. We both get on so well with each other’s families. We also share the same birthday! So if that isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is!
The proposal.
We have a dog named Hattie (I refer to her as my daughter), and she is a huge part of our lives. We went to get her a new name tag one day and I wanted it to read “If lost call my dadda”. Georgia wouldn’t let me, so instead, I decided to have engraved a separate tag which read “Will you marry my dadda?”. One Saturday morning I got up and made Georgia some breakfast in bed, and as I brought her the breakfast, Hattie came running in, jumped on the bed, and the rest they say is history!
The process.
We had been planning this for about one year. From emailing 30+ food trucks for quotes, to trips to the Gold Coast to try on wedding dresses, there really was no stone unturned to make this the perfect day! We planned the entire day ourselves and it all worked out so perfectly.
Style inspiration.
We wanted to create an outdoor, casual, festival style wedding where our guests could eat, drink and choose what they wanted to do and when they wanted to do it. We didn’t want sit down meals, so we got four food trucks! It was unlike any wedding anyone had ever been too before, and that’s exactly how we wanted it!
The dress.
I went to Queensland to try on a few dresses. My beautiful friend Tarryn actually offered to make my dress after I didn’t find anything I loved. My dress ended up being nothing like what I originally thought it would, and I’m still blown away with how stunning the final product was.
Favourite moments.
It all went so quickly! It felt as though the day was over in five minutes. My favourite moment was during the ceremony. Having so many people that we love all in the one place, watching us say our vows. Amazing!
Meaning of marriage.
To us, marriage doesn’t change anything in our relationship. Getting married was the next step in making a lifelong commitment to each other (officially). We wanted to celebrate our relationship with all of our close friends and family, and the wedding was the perfect way to bring everyone together at once.
Wedding soundtrack.

Funny stories (or near disasters).
The weather was looking quite threatening all day, until the ceremony began and the sun broke out (perfect timing!). As soon as the ceremony ended, a thunderstorm came through and it started pouring rain! We quickly ran everybody into the barn until it cleared. During the 10-minute freak storm, lightning struck a power pole and we lost power for two hours! So, we fortunately ran power from a generator from one of the food trucks until it came back on! None of the guests even knew (I was very stressed haha!).
Words of wisdom.
Don’t let anything get you stressed! Start planning as early as possible, and leave yourself as much time as possible (don’t leave it all until the end). Getting married is one of the most amazing experiences of your life, cherish the planning, it’s so much fun! And don’t let anyone tell you what the day should be like – this is YOUR day!
