Real Wedding – Georgia & Steele, South Melbourne VIC

It was love at swipe right for Georgia and Steele when they wed exactly four years and four days after their first meeting.

Steele knew that Georgia was the perfect girl for him, so he wrote a rap song to show his love and propose – see rap song below!

They settled on an inner-city Melbourne wedding that had relaxed vibes from start to finish and their philosophy was as long as you have good food, wine and music, there isn’t really any need to sweat the small stuff.

There to capture all the fun and frivolity was Kyra Boyer.

In their words…

The meeting.

It’s was four years and four days on the day we got married. And of course, it all began with a swipe right! I (Georgia) stumbled across this guy on Tinder, noticing that he wore a cap in every single photo. I was somewhat intrigued, so I swiped right! Georgia came up on Steele’s screen and he thought to himself, ‘yep she’s pretty good!’ After a conversation and solid confirmation from his housemates Millsy and Planty, he too decided to swipe right. A first date was teed-up, but at the elevents hour, Steele cancelled. Surely, he had a cracking excuse to stand this glamour up? Nope, the waves were looking good, so he decided to go surfing instead. Lucky for him, Georgia gave him a second chance, against the better judgement of her flat mate, who said she should jump ship

The ‘one’.

Georgia –  I took him to a party to test if he would fit in, don’t know why I was worried, my friends loved him more than me!

Steele – Straight away! Though it took a while to convince Georgia

The proposal.

Steele rapped the proposal:

I’ve always been good at sick raps and hopefully after this one there will be plenty of claps

We met three years ago at 29th apartment…it was good and I knew that our love would grow stronger than cement

Some people might say that cement might crack, but I know we’ll be together as long as you keep waxing my back.

I hope very soon that we can start a family, and now I’ve got a shitload of power tools…am I finally manly?

This is the town where we bought our dog Chilli, and coming here to many might sound a bit silly

We came from Emerald, Frankston and little ol’ Burnie and I think it’s about time to continue our journey!

I always get a bit nervous when I’m trying to sing, but nowhere near as nervous as when I tried to buy you a ring

I went for a beer with JT last week…I got his blessing, he said “yo Steele your better not be messing”

Because I love my daughter more than a fat kid loves cake, but please take her off my hands, man I need a break

You constantly say “Steele it’s time to put a ring on it”, well now baby it’s finally your time to blinggggg it

Georgia Tyas, you know that you’re the love of my life, and now this song is over I’m gunna ask you to be my wife!

Planning process.

The planning of the wedding was very relaxed as we knew what we wanted and stuck to our personalities

Style inspiration.

We found an amazing venue, Canvas House in South Melbourne and as soon as we stepped into the venue, we knew that we had to have our wedding there. I would say we wanted to keep our wedding “relaxed, modern and fun”

The dress.

I only went to three stores before I put on “Harlie” from Made With Love Bridal. I wanted something that would suit our venue and my character. My dress was soft lace combined with modern elegant.

Favourite moment.

When Steele and I were standing up to say ‘thank you’ to everyone and seeing everyone laughing with full stomachs and a wine or beer in hand.

Meaning of marriage.

Hard question – I would love Steele just as much if we never got married but it is very special to call each other Husband and Wife. Hopefully we can take after both sets of parents as they both celebrate over 40+ years together

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle:  The Verve – Lucky Man

Funny stories (or near disasters).

It actually went really smoothly!

Planning surprises.

That you book all the big ticket items in early so there is a few months where you don’t do much and feel like you should be doing something

Words of wisdom.

As long as you have good food, wine and music, I wouldn’t sweat the small stuff.
