Real Wedding – Georgie & Tom, Fyansford VIC

Classic glam with a fresh modern twist is what Tom and Georgie’s dream day is all about. For them, it was essential to look back over their wedding in years to come and always love their look – as well as soak up the epic vibes captured in every shot by photography legend Jess Nicholls!

This is truly one incredible celebration, set against the striking backdrop of The Great Hall at Provenance Wines. With rough-hewn stone textures and sweeping beams, Georgie and Tom’s choice to opt for a monochrome palette and clean, crisp lines adds a fresh contemporary feel that brings all the impact. Florals in the freshest white add softness and light, while the groom and wedding party in classic cut black elevate the style to modern noir.

Central to it all is Georgie’s stunning look, glowing in a chic ballgown by Kyha Studios. We love the nod to 90s inspiration with the straight, strapless neckline updated to be perfectly on-point with cutaways to a lowered back.

Every dreamy detail of this stunning soiree gives effortless style with lashings of personality and an endless sense of fun. Scroll on to see it all unfold.

The meeting.

We actually met on the dating app Bumble… however it turned out we had several mutual friends. Our first date was at a bar in Richmond in early February 2017, safe to say the rest is history.

The one.

From early on there was a spark, constant banter and similar values. Being around Tom was so easy and effortless, I knew he would be in my life for a long time.

The proposal.

We were at a winery on the Bellarine Peninsula on a cold wintery day, which is nothing new for us so I didn’t think anything of it. We had finished lunch, and Tom suggested we grab a glass of wine and walk through the vineyards to warm up. On our way back toward the restaurant, he popped the question. I was completely caught off guard!

Planning process.

It was a lot more seamless than I anticipated, We had a pretty quick turnaround from Tom’s proposal in August 2022, to our wedding in February 2023.  Which, in turn, made us act promptly and make decisions quickly. We are both pretty organised people and knew exactly what we wanted. The majority of our vendors were recommended by close friends, which was a huge help. There were lots of emails, spreadsheets, and final coordination in the last few weeks leading up to the day. Sarah, our coordinator from Provenance, was incredible at being on top of everything and coordinating everything and everyone. Ivory Tribe’s real weddings were also a huge help. I took on board recommendations and suggestions from other couples days.

Style inspiration.

We wanted our day to be classic and timeless and reflect us as a couple. We wanted to look back at our photos and be happy with all the decisions we made for our day.

The ceremony.

Our ceremony was in the Great Hall at Provenance Wines, previously the old Paper Mills. As soon as we saw the space, we were blown away by it. Seeing it all come together, and all of our guests there was so incredible. Seeing Tom waiting for me at the end of the aisle was very special, I immediately felt at ease. We had Shannon Jeans marry us, who made our ceremony so lighthearted, funny and emotional and reflected who we are as a couple.

The outfits.

Kyha was the first place I went to; I went in with an open mind to try on a few different styles to see what would suit my body shape. The Monte gown was the first dress I tried on; after trying on a few other styles, I put the Monte back on and knew it would be the one!

Favourite moment.

The ceremony was definitely my favourite. Being in front of all of our favourite people and declaring our love for each other.

Meaning of marriage.

Marriage is about supporting each other through the highs and lows of life. Choosing a life partner you can call your best friend while creating memories together, laughing together and enjoying the mundane tasks together.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: I’m Gonna Be by Sleeping at Last

Reception entry: Sing Hallelujah by Dr. Alban

First dance: Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader

Funny stories (or near disasters).

We can laugh about it now, but we had a 36-degree day which was very warm with all the guests in the room. This led to Tom suffering severe heat exhaustion, and he ended up missing half of the reception with his feet elevated and cool towels on his neck. Thankfully we have some legendary friends who are doctors and nurses who looked after him. We missed our sunset photos and first dance, but we got married so that was the main thing!

Planning surprises.

Be proactive and lock in your vendors ASAP. Enjoy the process, it’s the best time of your life, and hopefully the only time you’ll get to do it.

GEORGIE AND TOM’S SUPPLIERS

Ceremony venue: The Great Hall- Provenance Wines, Fyansford Geelong

Reception venue Provenance Wines, Fyansford Geelong – Sarah, our co-ordinator from Provenance was a key part of making our day happen so efficiently. She was SO organized and on top of everything; even things we hadn’t even considered, she had a solution for it.

Celebrant:  Shannon Jeans

Photography: We had Jess Nicholls capture our day; she was phenomenal. SO easygoing and made us feel so relaxed the whole day.  The photos were a true reflection of who we are as a couple. We were blown away by them all, we have too many favourites to choose from.

Florist: Anna Loughnan did our flower arrangements; she absolutely nailed the brief. Keeping it simple and classic with lots of greenery and white florals. Her laid-back and calm attitude towards everything really reassured us we were in great hands.

Hair and make-up: Bernice Mansfield- Once Upon a Bride

The dresses: Kyha Studios– Monte Gown & Freddie Party Dress

Shoes: Loeffler Randall

Rings: Michael Albrecht Jewellery

Bridesmaid’s dresses: Shona Joy

Entertainment: We had Rutherford Entertainment for our DJ and sax. We had been to a number of weddings they played at and haven’t had a bad time. We knew we couldn’t look any further.
