Real Wedding – Hannah & Luke, Noosa NSW

Hannah and Luke’s coastal celebration had it all; a gorgeously tropical garden ceremony, beach backdrops, and a water-bound reception onboard a ferry!

Our take on their sensational style, relaxed yet so cool, is Hamptons chic meets vintage Australian summer. Tangerine and cotton candy pink form the basis of the contemporary tropical theming, accented with floral arrangements in soft summer shades of sweet peach, creamy lemon and vivid violets shot through with pink highlights. Mid-century design touches personalise the look, and the golden sunset bathing the ferry make for one sweetly stunning vision!

We love Hannah’s Rachael Gilbert gown, a timeless silhouette in a clean, modern cut – and it certainly made an impact on Luke, his face a picture of emotion as his wife to be made her way toward him.

Luke opted for a classic tux for the guys, while the gals were a vision of summer simplicity in perfectly mismatched florals.

See these magical moments unfold through the artful lens of Market Lane Media.

The meeting.

We met nearly five years ago, when I moved into Luke’s apartment. We were roommates! Luke’s cousin was one of my mates, and they wanted a roommate.

The ‘one’.

Hannah – pretty soon after we first met.

Luke – I would have to agree. We were roommates, but it was clear there was something special.

The planning.

Initially, we were getting married in Brisbane, but we changed it to Noosa, and we are so glad we did. That was one positive to our wedding being postponed because of Covid. Because of that, we were so organised at the start and leading up to our first wedding date, that we didn’t have to worry too much after that! We also had a stylist and on-the-day coordinator, Anna, who was fantastic and took so much stress off us. I think it would have been a different story if we had to organise all the suppliers on the day ourselves.

Style inspiration.

We wanted something that reflected us as a couple – lots of fun, lots of love, lots of laughs and a relaxed atmosphere, with good music.

The ceremony.

Hannah – Seeing Luke at the end of the aisle, and hearing his vows. I also loved standing beside him whilst we said our speeches. That was a special moment for me, and something I will never forget.

Our MC’s and some of Luke’s groomsman did a hilarious rap and song, which we still sing now.

Luke – The ceremony was a total vibe. Family and friends are important to us both, and seeing their faces light up with laughter and excitement is something I’ll never forget. That colour palette Hannah had chosen along with our stylist, set such a fun tone and was absolutely reminiscent of Hannah’s personality. And of course, the first moment I saw her, in all that neoprene glory. She was the rock, and I was the river.

The outfits.

Hannah – I bought my dress online, and it arrived at work. I tried it on at home with my sister and my mum. Luke was actually in the other room with my sister’s fiancé, but they didn’t know what was going on. It was just what I imagined. I didn’t want to spend tens of thousands on a dress I was never going to wear again. I wanted something classic, elegant and timeless that had a little bit of edge to it. I looked at other dresses afterwards, but I’m so happy I kept my first choice.

Luke – I spent some time choosing our suits. Classic and timeless was the approach. Hannah was great and trusted my judgement (as with most things). Crazy thing about that is I did rock a blue feather boa to my formal back in the day. This time I opted for the tuxedo, navy jacket with silk lapel. The groomsmen sported black suits. We all had a hilarious moment of panic with our photographer Alexandra, as she guided us through tying our un-tied bow ties.

Favourite moments.

It’s hard to pick just one moment. The whole day was such a vibe. Finally getting to stand together at the end of the aisle was pretty spectacular.

Meaning of marriage.

Marriage is just another way to show commitment to each other.  For us, it’s about being in a team together, for life. It’s about knowing and loving your number one person, forever.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Naïve Melody by Talking Heads

Funny stories or near-disasters?

Only Covid making us reschedule three times, but other than that, it was smooth sailing. The week leading up to the wedding was super busy.

Words of wisdom.

Relax, have fun and surround yourself with the most important people. Spend as much time together on the day as possible, and enjoy every moment.

Can’t get enough of beautiful bridal bouquets? We’ve spent a blissful few hours selecting some of our favourite arrangements, from classic creams to bold blossoms. Check them out on the blog, here.
