Real Wedding – Hayley & Jarryd, St Kilda VIC

Stunning St Kilda was the perfect location for Hayley and Jarryd to seal the deal in front of all their loved ones.

In front of a lush arbour on a romantic rooftop, this perfect pair exchanged vows in a sweet ceremony. Hayley was a vision in her Jane Hill gown, and while it wasn’t the gown she initially imagined herself in, it couldn’t have suited the occasion more beautifully.

They wanted a relaxed and fun cocktail affair and this was achieved with simple, yet sublime styling and a cake that completely wowed.

Capping the night off with a full dance floor and some champagne showers, Jerome Cole was the talent behind the lens.

In Hayley’s words…

The meeting.

Jarryd and I met at the blue diamond day races. I was there with my family and he was there with his friends. Jarryd recognized my face from Tinder and sent me a message. He met my whole family that day.

The ‘one’.

When he let me order his breakfast for him. There always seemed to be two items on the breakfast menu that I wanted to try but couldn’t decide between. He would always let me order the other item I wanted to try, for him, and then I would end up eating half of this breakfast.

The proposal.

It was our anniversary and he had asked me on the Wednesday if I wanted to go out for dinner on Friday to celebrate. As it was organised last minute I thought it was going to be fairly low key. I got home from work, went for a run and was baking muffins in my tracksuit when Jarryd came out and said we had to be ready for dinner in 20 minutes. I shoved my hair in a ponytail and put a summer dress on. I didn’t put in any effort as it was the last thing I was expecting.

When we were in the car Jarryd said we had to stop by the beach first as he had an anniversary gift to give and I would use it at the beach.

When we got to the beach, he handed me a two-page letter and then proposed. I was so shocked and mad because I would have put in effort into my appearance if I had known.

Planning process.

Fairly relaxing and stress free. We made all the decisions easily

Style inspiration.

We wanted a very relaxed and fun cocktail wedding. As soon as the ceremony was over, we wanted the party to start and have a good time.

The dress.

I only booked in a dress trial at one place Jane Hill as I knew I loved their dresses. The dress I chose in the end was the last dress I tried on – I didn’t even pick it! Just before I left I told the assistant I wanted to try on something completely different for fun and I walked out and my mum and bridemaids were like ‘ohhhh I think this is the dress’.

Favourite moment.

Spending the day with all your closest friends and family.

Meaning of marriage.

Committing to my best friend for the rest of my life. Two individuals choosing to share their lives together to support you through the good and bad, sharing humorous moments and sad moments.

Wedding soundtrack.

Walk down the aisle: XO– John Mayer

Leaving the isle- Another one bites the dust – Queen

Wedding Entrance- Love Generation – Bob Sinclair

First dance- The way you make me feel– Michael Jackson

Funny stories (or near disasters).

No, the day was so relaxing and chilled, everything went to plan! I was almost waiting for something to go wrong, but nothing did which was great!

Planning surprises.

How much everything costs!

Words of wisdom.

If you don’t set a budget, then you can’t go over.
