Real Wedding – Jack & Brittly, Yarra Valley VIC

Jack and Brittly were determined to create a vibe that was timeless and not too cliche when they wed in the Yarra Valley.

This darling duo couldn’t wipe the smile from their faces and one of their favourite moments was when they stepped away from the limelight for a moment and shared a piece of cake. It was their first moment as husband and wife with only the two of them and they revelled in their love and the great day they had created.

While there was a little mishap during the bouquet toss (Grandma, we hope you’re ok!), we couldn’t help smile ourselves as we scrolled through all the beautiful moments captured by Tribe talent Ashleigh Haase.

In their words…

The meeting.

Our story is a bit of a cliche – Jack was best mates with my brother and that’s how we were introduced back in 2008. Our families became good friends as well. The rest is history!

The ‘one’.

In 2011 Jack and I shared our first kiss after years of coming awfully close. It was in 2012 Jack followed me to Canada and surprised me on Valentines Day with a single rose – I think then I knew he was willing to go a long way for me!

The proposal.

On a perfect bluebird day at Falls Creek skiing and snowboarding, Jack took a detour at the top of a run and suggested we take a selfie as we seldom take photos of ourselves – before I knew it Jack was down on one knee in the snow with a ring outstretched asking me to marry him. I could not have asked for a more perfect proposal.

Style inspiration.

We aimed for a classical/timeless style wedding. Our aim was to not be too ‘rustic’ or cliche but instead forge a style which we would look back at in 50 years times and not laugh at the photos.

The dress.

As I used to be a wedding dress maker I have seen an awful lot of dresses in my life! I think for me the key was to try on as many as possible and when I found one I liked not to second guess myself. It was strange because what I had always imagined myself wearing was not at all like I ended up wearing.

Favourite moments.

There were seriously so many fave moments of the day – right from the moment we saw each other down the aisle for the first time, the speeches, the dancing, just everything! It was an unforgettable day.

Meaning of marriage.

Marriage is a life long commitment to each other – it is about being there for someone through thick and thin, enjoying the highs and enduring the lows. It is about being with your best friend for life and enjoying every minute.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Here Comes The Sun  by The Beatles

Reception entry: I’m a Believer by Smash Mouth

First dance: Come away with me by Norah Jones

Funny stories (or near disasters).

There was one near disaster and one actual disaster!!

First Jack nearly dropped me when going for a dip on our first kiss!

Secondly the real disaster – my Grandma went to catch the bouquet which resulted in 3 broken bones and an ambulance. Thankfully she has now recovered and now we can laugh about it all and it gave everyone a wedding to remember with all the toppings!

Words of wisdom.

Plan – Lock in all vendors as early as possibly to avoid disappointment of them being booked.

Run sheet – Make sure your run sheet is detailed yet simple enough for anyone to follow. Give this to your bridal party a week before and let them guide you through the day.

Take a second to stop and smell the roses (TOGETHER!) – One of the highlights of night was when we stepped away from the limelight and sat and ate cake together in a little side room staff area and really relished in the moment and had our first moment as husband and wife with no one else around.

Nicole and Ben threw a darling day in the Yarra Valley, so be sure to take a peek at all their married magic.

BRITTLY & JACK’S TRIBE

Ceremony venue / location: The Farm Yarra Valley – Location in venue was in the farm house due to wet weather. Amazing plan B

Cynthia is the wedding and event manager at The Farm and was totally amazing throughout the entire process, right from picking the venue to coordination on the day. The staff were amazing the entire time. Absolutely faultless venue! The food at the venue is beyond amazing – we had a grazing style seated wedding and all guests were raving about the food

Celebrant: Damon Hughes Marriage Celebrant – I never thought people would be so blown away by the ceremony and how it was delivered by the celebrant but Damon nailed it. There was laughter the were tears (of happiness), it was absolutely perfect!

Photography: Ashleigh Haase Photography – Ash was lovely from the moment we met her in our first sit down meeting. We had planned to meet with a number of other photographers but cancelled them after getting such great vibes from Ash.

On the day she made us feel incredibly comfortable and boy did she nail it – she managed to capture so many breathtaking moments and we couldn’t be happier.

Videography: Bluebird Media Chris Ellis – Chris is a friend of both of ours and is jet! He made us feel so comfortable and went above and beyond to capture the best day of our lives.

Florist: Pick Of The Bunch Floristry – Jen Sheridan

Hair: Kayla Giarratana – Kayla is a very close family friend and was the perfect hair stylist – she listened to everything I suggested and was simply amazing.

Make-up: Jacky Pagey  – Jacky is a friend of a friend and I would have not thought of picking anyone else. She is delightful and works marvels.

The Dress: Fairytale Brides Boutique

Veil / head wear: Brittly used to be a wedding dress maker and studied fashion. The veil was handmade by Brittly the night before the wedding.

Shoes: Wittner

Rings: Ralf Fisch Fine Jewellery

Bridesmaid’s dresses: H&M – Tuxedo Jumpsuits

Groom’s suit: Gibson Suits

Jacket Brand: ASOS Harris Tweed Jacket

Groom’s shoes: Florsheim

Catering and cake: All Catering by the Farm.

Stationery / Signage: Jack Price (Brother in law) aka Frosty to avoid confusion. Jack’s Sister’s Husband is a graphic designer and is also the nicest guy in the world. Frosty worked with Brittly to create concept which worked with the classic styling in black and white. The first step was creating a timeless Monogram ‘JB’ which was the linchpin of the entire design. This monogram was used on all invitations, videos and is also hand engraved on Jack’s rose gold signet ring.

Frosty did all place settings, table charts, signage and the like.

Ceremony entertainment: Joey Cirillo – Joey is a good friend of Jack and they also played in a band together for quite a length of time. He is the nicest man alive and has the voice of Fergie and Jesus crossed together.

Reception: Like This Corporate Band – Very professional, made the evening with every song and created the most fun wedding vibe imaginable. A highlight of the night when Jack and Joey joined the band and bust out a song!
