Real Wedding – Jacqueline and Ben, Lorne VIC

Their farewell party turned into an impromptu engagement party when Ben proposed to Jacqui before they jet-setted off to live in The Big Apple. Jacqui located her dream dress in New York City, while her mum played man on ground, locking in the details of their Cumberland River Wedding.

The cliffs lining the Cumberland River played the perfect backdrop to Ben and Jacqui’s simple, chic wedding ceremony, while the teepee tents added to the wow factor, playing host to their reception. Photo pro, Stefani Driscoll, was there to capture this laid-back love affair.

In Jacqui and Ben’s words…

The meeting.

We met through friends in 2008.

The proposal.

We were getting ready for our farewell party (we moved to NYC) and just before we left Ben proposed.  We surprised everyone at the farewell party and it became an impromptu engagement party!

The planning.

Ben: It was all pretty seamless, we had a lot of help from our family, Jacqui’s mum was our man on the ground and an incredible help, could not have done it without her

Style inspiration.

We wanted a very relaxed and fun atmosphere and for the event to be more of a party than a formal wedding. We just wanted everyone to have a great time

The dress.

My dress is from a local New York brand, Daughters of Simone. It was the first store I visited with my parents while they were visiting and probably the fourth dress I tried on. I put it on, loved it and bought it on the spot.

Favourite moment(s).

The whole weekend was great, being able to spend quality time with all our family and friends was a definite highlight.

The meaning of marriage.

Spending your life with your best friend

Wedding soundtrack.

One of our best friends played an acoustic version of Heartbeats by José Gonzales as we walked down the aisle which was lovely.

Funny stories/near disasters.

We had our ceremony outside and it was raining on and off all morning the day of, luckily it stopped just as we were preparing to start the ceremony.  We had a wet weather plan but Ben was still pretty stressed out!

Planning surprises.

Just how many minute details there are to think about and plan for!

Words of wisdom.

Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’ll only ruin the day.  The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy it!

If the coast is calling you, Caitlin and Damien’s festival styled wedding is a winner!
