Real Wedding – Janelle & Dimitri, South Wharf VIC

With incredible Melbourne views as their backdrop, Janelle and Dimitri created an incredible celebration that was all kinds of wow!

Janelle admits there was a rush of emotion as she began to make her way down the aisle, as she blew everyone away with her sensational beaded gown.  They could not have felt more excited to be finally hitched and let the party officially start.

This pair love styling and design so they used their stunning venue to its advantage by styling it with soft romantic colours, hints of dark tones and pops of gold to keep within their Winter look.

They partied on into the night and celebrated every step of the way and White Vine Photography, along with Tribe favourites, Annette and Dani Films were there to capture all the magic.

In Janelle’s words…

The meeting.

We met through my best friend during summer 2006. She introduced us at a party and then we started talking on good old fashioned MSN – romantic I know. He asked for my number at another summer party we both attended and the rest is history.

The ‘one’.

We actually first dated for 4 ½ years and then being the young naïve teens we were, we separated for 3 years. We always remained in contact and always saw each other out, but it was only after growing as individuals that we grew back together. We knew straight away it always meant to be, and 6 months later we bought our first home together.

The proposal.

It was 2 days before we were leaving for Bali and I was going to get my nails done for the trip. He told me to let him know when I was 15 minutes away from home so he could start dinner, little did I know he was secretly filling the house with candles and roses. I had taken my time getting home while poor Dimi was pacing up and down the corridor waiting for me. I walked into the house to see this beautiful surprise and Dimi on one knee waiting to pop the question. It was the most intimate and special moment and 2 days later we left for Bali to celebrate.

Planning process.

I loved it and it almost became a hobby. We both have the same style and knew what we wanted the day to be, so it made the planning process really easy. However, as organized as we were, I’ll never forget the number of things we had to tick off the week of the wedding. Ninja mode was a must.

Style inspiration.

We both love styling and design and after seeing our venue ‘Aerial’, we both knew it was perfect for us with its floor to ceilings windows, view of the city and all white everything.  We went with soft romantic colours, with hints of dark tones and pops of gold to keep within the Winter look. Pinterest and Instagram were also our holy grail. I had countless screenshots and pinned photos, and I honestly loved seeing it all come together by what I had saved.

The dress.

My wedding dress was the first dress I tried on and made by Blinova Bridal. I did try on several dresses with other designers but the more dresses I tried on, the more I knew it was ‘the one’. It was a custom-made fitted mermaid style dress, with bead work that covered the entire bodice. The design idea was taken from one of Blinova Bridal’s samples, but I made it my own by changing the back design and train.

Favourite moment.

I would have to say walking down the aisle and seeing Dimi – cliché I know. I can’t describe the rush of emotion, there is no other moment like it. We also both had the best morning with our bridal squad, they were all such an amazing support system and who doesn’t love knocking back drinks with your favourite people.

Meaning of marriage.

Loving each other on the highest level and loving every part of one and another– the good and the bad.  Having a partner in crime and supporting each other through this crazy adventure called life.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) – Sleeping At Last

Signing of the registry: Differences – Ginuwine, and Here I stand – Usher

Recessional: Let’s Get Married – Jagged Edge ft Reverend Run

Reception Entry: End Of Time – Beyonce

First dance:  Came Here For Love (acoustic) – Sigala and Ella Eyre

Planning surprises.

How quickly I can spend money and how everything adds up ha ha.

Words of wisdom.

Enjoy the planning process and try keep the stress to a minimum. I know it’s hard to think that with so much to do but the planning process can be fun. Try your best to be organized and tick things off early – you don’t want to look back and think of it as a nightmare.
