Real Wedding – Jared & Terené, Warrandyte South VIC
While it was important to Terené and Jared that they spend time planning their dream day, they didn’t want it to take over their lives, and that’s how their ‘Wedding Wednesday’s’ were born. A dedicated time for this perfect pair to chat all things wedding and plan accordingly without it hanging over their heads every day.
What resulted was a romantic and relaxed celebration that was guaranteed to be enjoyed by all.
With a hilarious celebrant taking charge of the show their favourite moment without a doubt was their ceremony. Exchanging heart felt vows in front of beautiful barn doors, Terené and Jared declared they would love each other forever.
With a stunning venue that only need simple and natural style, they partied the night away with all their favourites by their side and Tribe talent Kyra Boyer has captured this celebration of love to perfection.
In Terené’s words…
The meeting.
In highschool we were good friends and always had flirty banter. Soon after highschool ended, we went on a road trip to catch up with our friend who was studying in Wodonga. It was there that our flirty banter turned into our first kiss and 9 years later we’re here!
The ‘one’.
He is my best friend and go to person for everything. My rock. Committing to spending the rest of your life with one person is a big deal, but he is the first person I talk to in the morning and the last at night everyday, I am my happiest when I’m next to him and I couldn’t imagine it any other way.
The proposal.
We went away for our 9th anniversary to an eco lodge near Torquay. I went to the car to grab some things and when I came back into the lodge there was rose petals on the floor, Amy Shark ‘Adore’ playing and Jared down on one knee (bless). We spent the evening drinking wine and eating cheese by a lake with our fur babies (so perfect, so us).
The planning process.
I wanted to lock things down quickly so I could enjoy the months leading up to the wedding. I am super organized and can be controlling but also extremely indecisive (what a combo). My mum and bridesmaids were my sounding board for all things which was incredibly helpful. Jared and I used to have ‘Wedding Wednesdays’ where we would share a glass of wine and work through the to do list. You literally speak, think and dream all things wedding so we really tried to have dedicated times for wedding planning and then time we would spend together with no wedding talk.
Style inspiration.
Our venue is already so beautiful, so I wanted to keep the styling simple, natural. Our ceremony was outdoors in front of a barn and surrounded by beautiful trees so I wanted to celebrate this by having Australian natives for our flowers. Lots of candles for a soft romantic ambiance and black wire accents for a modern touch. This is very much the styling of our house so we naturally gravitated towards it. We also got to use a lot of vases, planter stands and baskets from home!
The dress.
I tried on SO many dresses and jumped from one style to another. It was so hard making a decision because they were all so beautiful, but had to keep reminding myself I wanted it to be comfortable, simple and something that felt like me! I ended up picking one of the first dresses I tried on at Bluebell Bridal. It is from Daisy Brides, called Sand Lily. It was incredibly comfortable and the perfect balance of sexy and sophisticated. It was a lace dress, with a stunning low back with thin straps. I didn’t want a huge train and wanted to be able to walk (and dance) with ease. I felt like a beautiful bride but also felt like myself and not ‘super bridey’. I honestly didn’t want to ever take it off.
Favourite moment.
Definitely the ceremony! I loved walking down to aisle to Jared, sharing my vows to him and hearing his vows to me. I loved being surrounded by our family and friends and the beautiful surrounding of The Farm. I could have stood there looking into Jareds eyes for hours!
Meaning of marriage.
Being there for one another through the best days, worst days and all the ordinary days in between. Growing together and celebrating life together. Back to back, guns blazing.
Wedding soundtrack.
Aisle: Like I’m Gonna Lose You – Jasmine Thompson
Post ceremony: Boom Clap – Charli XCX
Reception entry: I Found You – Benny Blanco
First Dance: 10,000 Emerald Pools – BORNS
Father Daughter: My Girl – The Temptations
Funny stories (or near disasters).
As my bridesmaids were walking down the aisle they realized the wrong song was playing. It was quickly changed with no one suspecting a thing. Funny thing is the song they played was ‘Adore – Amy Shark’ which was the song Jared played when he proposed to me. He thought I was surprising him by changing the song!
Planning surprises.
You can be the most organized person ever, but there will always be a heap of stuff you can only do in the last couple weeks before the wedding.
Words of wisdom.
Find time for date nights away from wedding planning – no wedding talk allowed!
Also don’t sweat the small stuff. Literally none of it matters, its all about you, your partner and being surrounded by the people you love and who love you!
