Real Wedding – Johanna & Christopher, Red Hill VIC

On the magnificent grounds of Montalto in romantic Red Hill, Johanna and Christopher sealed the deal with a handful of their nearest and dearest present.

With COVID-19 wreaking havoc on their initial plans, they scaled back and instead put on a stunning celebration of their love.

Johanna’s Zimmermann gown was breathtakingly beautiful, and while it was different to the original gown she had planned on, it suited the occasion perfectly.

With bridesmaids in muted tones and flowers that were not only beautiful but perfectly complemented the overall palette, Johanna and Christopher’s day was understated but with an organic and elegant feel.

Georgia Verrells captured every breathtaking moment, see how it unfolded here.

The meeting.

Working at an Italian restaurant on Lygon Street, Carlton

The proposal.

During a rainforest walk in the Otways.

Planning process.

Difficult…

Thanks to 2020 and COVID-19 our wedding planning, like many others, wasn’t very straightforward and there was so much uncertainty. We postponed our original date in October to December and the wedding was very different to what we had originally planned – large number of guests and activities across a weekend.

Style inspiration.

Understated luxury with an organic feel.

The outfit.

I actually cancelled my original dress after we postponed our first date as that dress didn’t seem to fit the changed direction and feeling of our day.

Favourite moment.

The photography in the vineyard after the ceremony – there was lots of fun and laughter!

Meaning of marriage.

Cementing our commitment and love for each other.

Aisle song.

Bloom by The Paper Kites

Funny stories (or near disasters).

Pausing the ceremony to enjoy the sounds of the birds and trees, only to be interrupted by a local bunyip crashing through the bracken.

Words of wisdom.

It is your day and it goes way too quickly, so don’t overthink or overdo things. Put effort into the parts that you will remember and are meaningful.

JOHANNA AND CHRISTOPHER’S SUPPLIERS

Florist: Peninsula Wildflower. Couldn’t have been happier with the flowers – the colours were just beautiful and worked perfectly with the overall palette.

Hair: Kirby Saunders

Make Up: Stephanie Bottrell for Tonic Agency

The Dress: Zimmermann. I purchased the dress just four weeks before the wedding so was a bit of a stressful process. Because it was a much smaller and slightly more casual day than planned, I wanted a dress that wasn’t traditional but still felt special.
