Real Wedding – Kate & Cameron, Melbourne VIC

Kate and Cameron knew what they wanted from their wedding day and enlisted the help of a wonderful team to bring their dreams to life.

At the ever elegant Dome on Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD, Kate made her entrance in a stunning Cappellazzo Couture number, accompanied by the romantic sounds of a talented string quartet, before which they wed in front of their loved ones.

A glistening city evening then played backdrop to the party that followed and they truly could not have been happier. There to document this chic celebration in all its glory, was Tribe favourite Lovers Narrative.

In Kate’s words…

The meeting.

Cameron and I first met through mutual friends and shared a lovely dinner with them at a restaurant on the Bellarine Peninsula. Cameron was living in Sydney at the time and so it wasn’t until he moved back to Melbourne about a year later that we picked up where we left off and the rest from there is history.

The ‘one’.

When we reconnected, we both knew instantly that we had found the one. It always felt so easy and fun to be around each other. It felt like we had known one another forever.

The proposal.

Cameron was just about to fly to India for a business trip and so we organised dinner at Terindah Estate (a gorgeous winery on the Bellarine Peninsula) We were looking out to the lovely view of the Bay before dinner and that is where Cameron proposed. It was so special and heartfelt.

The process.

It was very relaxed. We were pretty organised and chipped away at our to do list leading up to the big day. That made the whole process a breeze and lots of fun.

Style inspiration.

We wanted to go with a relaxed and fun vibe. We also wanted to find amazing venues and knew we wanted great food, wine and music. As far as look and feel goes we wanted something timeless and elegant. Something we can look back on in years to come and still absolutely love.

The dress.

It was a really fun process. My Mum and bridesmaids were very involved which I loved. They helped to make the whole experience so much fun and so unforgettable. I had several designers in mind that I loved that were based in Sydney and Melbourne and we visited them all – trying on their gowns to help find the one. However, it was the amazing Sonia Cappellazzo that I entrusted to  design and create my wedding gown and I could not have been happier. I felt absolutely amazing in it and received so many lovely compliments. My gown I would describe as elegant and timeless with quintessential Cappellazzo detail that added an effortless, modern day look and feel to the gown.

Favourite moments.

For both of us it was walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time. Both Mum and Dad walked me down the aisle which was really special. We walked down the aisle to Canon in D played by  Animata String Quartet. I used to play the violin when I was younger and that song in particular is very special to myself and my parents and Cameron loves it too. It was a really nice moment. And to see my soon to be husband beaming with happiness at the end of the aisle was incredible. Another favourite memory was when everyone was up and dancing at the reception – with Melbourne as the backdrop and so much fun, love and happiness in the room – that was amazing!

Meaning of marriage.

It is a commitment to each other to love, respect and support each other always.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Canon in D performed by Animata String Quartet

Signing: All I want is you and It’s a beautiful day (by U2), performed by Animata String Quartet

Recessional: Viva la Vida (by Coldplay) performed by Animata String Quartet. It was amazing!

Funny stories (or near disasters).

It was all smooth sailing, luckily.

Planning surprises.

Probably that it is way more involved than I first thought. Luckily I love a good project and my organisation skills came in quite handy – lots of lists and excel spreadsheets saved the day.

Words of wisdom.

Find your non negotiables and invest in those – for us it was the venues, flowers, food, wine, photographer and of course the dress too.

Spreadsheets and to do lists are the best –  they really helped to keep us on track and organised and that made the whole planning process fun and enjoyable.

Besides that find time to sit back with each other and take it all in – it really does fly by way too fast!
