While Kathryn and Andrew kept their day romantically simple, it didn’t stop Kathryn exuding effortless glamour in her custom Signor Mont gown.

After exchanging personally written and heartfelt vows, they celebrated the night away at trendy inner Melbourne city restaurant, Trunk.

Tables styled with fresh foliage and sweet touches like their brandy snap sweets, added to the love-filled celebration that no doubt left their guests talking for weeks.

Captured beautifully by Tribe favourite photographer Elk & Willow, Kathryn and Andrew’s day is absolute bliss!

IN KATHRYN’S WORDS…

The meeting.

We met whilst attending training for our current jobs four years ago. We became close friends and eventually fell in love.

The ‘one’.

We both knew we’d found the one when we said “I love you”. We said it with meaning and knew we were going to be with each other forever from then. Buying our first home together cemented these feelings that continue to grow every day.

The proposal.

I was Christmas day 2014, Andrew woke up around 7am telling me to wake up and that it was present time. He seemed in a hurry, whereas I was still waking up and needed a coffee. He ended up taking me into the lounge next to the tree, where he got down on one knee. I thought he was joking at first but when he pulled out the ring I burst into tears and just hugged him.

The planning.

It wasn’t too hectic. We had the venue picked fairly early on, so we then had a year to finalise the rest. Everyone we worked with was super easy, so it didn’t feel like it was that hard.

Style inspiration.

Everyone asked us this question and our answer was always…wedding?! We just wanted a fairly simple but elegant wedding that was all about the love between us. If I had to put it into a category I’d say it was simply romantic.

The dress.

I didn’t really try on millions of dresses. My mum suggested a fairly new designer who had a shop in Brunswick called Signor Mont. He had designed a stunning dress for a girl to wear to the Brownlow. I fell in love with the dress and we worked together to design my dress using it as inspiration. He is incredibly talented.

Favourite moments.

Obviously to have your family/friends celebrate the day with you is amazing, but for us I think it was the walk through the city to the Windsor Hotel that was our favourite. It was so quiet and for us just to be together alone and soak it all up was just spectacular.

Traditions.

We wrote our own vows and we stayed apart the night before which was special because we only saw each other for the first time walking down the aisle.

Meaning of marriage.

To us we believe marriage is to share your life with the person that you can share every little detail with, a person that doesn’t judge you and will love you unconditionally, forever.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle – The Winter Is by Mychael Danna & Devotchka from Little Miss Sunshine Soundtrack

Signing – Angels by The XX

Walk out – Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros

First dance – Hold On We’re Going Home by Drake

 Words of wisdom.

One thing I would suggest is asking your suppliers such as your hairdresser if they have a “back up plan” should anything happen to them on or the day before the wedding. The last thing you want is someone cancelling and not having a replacement
