Real Wedding – Laura & Pierre, Red Hill VIC

Laura and Pierre felt the lure of the Morninton Peninsula to celebrate their wedding after spending many a gorgeous weekend in the region early in their relationship.

Their day was about creating memories for a lifetime with Laura dazzling her guests and her groom in an incredible Karen Willis Holmes gown. Their love for each other evident in their smiles and these beautiful snaps by Tess Follett.

In Laura’s words…

The meeting.

I was hesitant to try online dating so my sister Beth gave me a bit of a push and put together an online dating profile for me in December 2014. Pierre started chatting to me online and the banter between us was relaxed and fun so we had our first date on January 10th 2015.

The ‘one’.

I knew I had fallen for Pierre by our 5th date. He took me on a picnic in Fitzroy Gardens and it felt right. I had never felt so relaxed and happy on a date before.

The proposal.

Pierre took me to Daylesford for the weekend.  We stayed in a gorgeous cottage. On the Saturday he organized the most decadent picnic for us and he proposed with a diamond.

The planning.

Moments of fun and moments of stress. The best part was definitely choosing the cakes.

Style inspiration.

Our first few weekends away together as a couple were to the Red Hill region. It felt right to get married in a venue where we had already shared happy memories.

The dress.

My mum and sister flew down from Brisbane to go dress shopping with me and we went to Karen Willis Holmes. I tried a few beautiful dresses on but the choice was easy. It was the last one I picked off the rack and it just suited my shape. I had no makeup on and no tan and I still felt good in it and by the look on my Mum’s face I knew it was the right dress.

Traditions.

Cutting of the cake and speeches

Meaning of marriage.

Pierre is my number one now and I am now his.

Wedding soundtrack.

I walked down the aisle to one of our favourite  alt-J songs, Warm foothills.

Funny stories (or near disasters).

The winery dog jumped on Pierre just as he was walking up to the ceremony and tore a hole in his pants. Tracey, the makeup artist was amazing and provided a quick fix with double-sided tape. I was stalled by my sisters and my best friend with a glass of champagne and was none the wiser until much later.

Words of wisdom.

Don’t sweat the small stuff.
