Real Wedding – Lloyd & Eva, Bawley Point NSW

With more of a festival feed than traditional wedding vibes, Eva and Lloyd chose to do their wedding their way. The result is a celebration that perfectly balances earthy edginess with modern-day romance, warmth and a huge dose of laid back cool.

Finding Bawley Vale Estate kickstarted the styling process for these two, with inspiration coming from the sleek, contemporary warmth of the venue juxtaposed against the raw, natural bushland. Choosing to extend these earthy, natural vibes led to a palette of burnt sage, soft umbers and highlights of muted, dusky pink.

We love the relaxed, calm feeling echoing from every one of Allume Weddings’ epic images. As celebrant Married by Matt kicks off the celebrations in style, everyone from the wedding party to the guests are every bit engaged. But of course, the centre of all this ease-filled emotion is our loved up couple, looking like true rock stars.

Eva’s gown by Anna Maurer Couture combines dreamy romance with an edgy corset bodice and incredible fingerless, full-length gloves. And Lloyd nails unique, out of the box groom goals in an olive linen jacket, cream chinos and a leather bolo tie – topped off with a killer fedora.

This is a wedding set to cause FOMO in anyone who dreams of laid back, aesthetically inspired and truly epic celebration!

The meeting.

We first met in 2011 at a Street & Graffiti project on Cockatoo Island. Although it wasn’t until 2013 that we saw something else in the friendship.

The ‘one’.

NYE 2014. It was our first road trip together to Falls Festival Byron Bay.

The proposal.

Lloyd and I were in Uluru, walking around its base, when he dropped to one knee and popped the question. It was an incredibly special moment!

Planning process.

The most difficult part of planning was finding the venue! We travelled all over New South Wales until we stumbled upon Bawley Vale Estate. Once we locked in the venue, everything else fell into place. All our vendors were so easy to work with and made the process so smooth. I kept waiting for the moment of stress to hit me and for me to become a bridezilla, but it never did. I am so happy with how it all came together and wouldn’t change a thing.

Style inspiration.

The venue was so beautiful we didn’t feel it needed a lot of styling; instead just wanted to complement its beauty. So we went with minimal styling and earthy, neutral tones.

The outfit.

My dress was custom made by the beautiful Anna Maurer. I found inspiration from other real brides’ dresses. I wanted it to be a classic style that was romantic, feminine and modern. It was a corset bodice gown with detachable fingerless sheer gloves covered in tiny 3D flowers and a matching cathedral length Italian tulle veil.

Favourite moments.

There were so many favourite moments it’s hard to choose just one. I loved getting ready with my girls, the ceremony (our celebrant, Married by Matty, was amazing!), the speeches and of course, dancing!

Meaning of marriage.

Committing to trust, love, challenge, laugh and share life experiences with your best friend forever.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: For You by Angus and Julie Stone

Reception entry: Come and Get Your Love by Redbone

First dance: Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley and Don’t Worry Baby by the Beach Boys.

Funny stories or near disasters.

Our little fur baby had both our wedding rings encased in this diamond-shaped container made by Molly Barker. She wore it all morning with no issues, although when the moment came for her to hand over the rings, she shook herself, and the container broke, dropping the rings onto the floor. The groomsmen all bent down and scuffled trying to find them; luckily, they didn’t drop too far away!

Planning surprises.

The cost! Just kidding…

Words of wisdom.

Enjoy the process, take it all in and remember on the day to get away from the craziness and give each other a kiss and hug. Soak in the entire day; it honestly goes so fast, you’ll want to cherish every little moment you get!
