Real Wedding – Marcus & Tash, Collingwood VIC

Hip-hop was the flavour of the day when Marcus and Tash celebrated their love in urban Collingwood. From have their wedding party enter into their reception to hip-hop bangers by the likes of Biggie and Tupac, to naming their tables after iconic rappers, their day was all about making a commitment, but having a whole lot of fun along the way.

Enlisting the help of Daniel of He Styles, they set about creating a day that was inspired by Baz Lurhmann film, Romeo and Juliet. Keeping things moody, pops of colour accented the day through their beautiful Wildflos blooms, thezero waste Bangin Hangin’s installation and backdrop, neon signage and of course, Marcus’ green velvet suit jacket.

Tash and Marcus exchanged vows with a fun and fabulous ceremony that was perfectly delivered by celebrant Nat Sproal and the love and happiness of this perfect pair is evident in the fabulous photos taken by the talented Jackson Grant.

The meeting.

At work (we worked together at a law firm). We were introduced to each other by a mutual colleague by sharing our Spotify hip-hop playlists.

The one.

Pretty much as soon as we met, we knew.

The proposal.

Marcus took Tash away to a cabin off the grid in country Victoria. He cooked Tash her favourite meal he makes (Bolognese) and proposed by the fire.

The planning process.

The style was inspired by 1990’s Romeo + Juliet, one of Tash’s favourite movies (moody tones, candles and neon). The style was also blended with Marcus and Tash’s love for hip-hop with the stationery including hop-hop references (the tables were named after rappers). Tash hired Daniel (He Styles) to put together the decor.

The ceremony.

We wanted it to be a party. The ceremony was fun and lighthearted thanks to our celebrant Nat Sproal.

The outfits.

We went for classic and romantic with moody tones (green, red, pink).

Favourite moment.

Seeing each other for the first time and when Tash walked down the aisle. And our wedding dance too.

Meaning of marriage.

A commitment of love between two people and an excuse to have an awesome party with your friends!

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Nothing Else – Angus and Julia Stone.

Reception entry: Hip Hop – Dead Prez

First dance: Dope Lemon – Marinade.

The wedding party and parents also walked in to hip-hop bangers with the likes of Biggie and Tupac. The rest of the night was filled with 90s hip hop, retro classics and a splash of disco.

Funny stories (or near disasters).

Tash was 19 weeks pregnant with their twin boys  and didn’t try her dress on for size in the week leading up  to the wedding #denial.

Planning surprises.

It is quite overwhelming and there’s so much to do, so Tash was glad to have hired He Styles to take care of the styling and set up on the day.

Words of wisdom.

Take the opportunity to have a few minutes together without anyone else, to be present and savour the special day.
