Real Wedding – Megan & Julien, Cremorne VIC

Julien’s proposal to Megan may not have been the most elegant occasion, but it sure was memorable! After cruising through the planning process, with the help of their talented tribe, this perfect pair sealed the deal in style.

The gorgeous greenery of Glausshaus Inside made a beautiful background for Megan and Julien’s magical Melbourne wedding day. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, and of course their two darling dachshunds, this beautiful couple tied the knot in a heartfelt ceremony; it was equal parts heartfelt and fun.

Expert happy snapper, Elsa Campbell, was brought on board to capture all the fun, and she did one heck of a job! Keep on on scrolling to see more of this chic celebration.

In Megan and Julien’s words…

The meeting.

Love at first sight…at a dodgy university pub in Claremont W.A. We spotted each other across the room. Unfortunately, Megan initially tried to introduce me to her friend… but I convinced her pretty quickly that I was worth getting to know.

The one.

Megan: For me, it was when we would sit for hours in Julien’s car talking about nothing and everything at once.

Julien: It would have been in the first six months we were dating. I loved Megan’s zest for life, adventure and travel. I admired her for her outgoing nature and her spontaneity.

The proposal.

This is a running joke for us and our friends. Julien proposed in Lysterfield National Park on a poop-covered jetty whilst supremely hungover. I suspected it was coming because he bypassed the bargain sandwiches in Coles for a fancier meal. He was worried I would throw out the ring which he was hiding in a paper bag so he had to get the show on the road.

The planning.

It was actually pretty cruisey. With the right vendors, everything went super smoothly. If anything, friends and family asking, ‘are you stressed out?’ was the most stressful thing. Sticking to our timeline constructed with our vendors was the best option for us.

Style inspiration.

Mostly what reflected us and our values. Good people, food, drinks and vibes.

The outfits.

I wanted a dress that was functional, comfortable, affordable, modern, with a little bit of a twist. Amy from Alca Line Bride was the best. It was also really important to us that Julien felt as great as I did. A custom herringbone suit with a rocking tie did the trick.

Favourite moments.

Our vows to each other for sure. Julien ensured there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Also, the controversial last song choice ‘Ride wit me’ by Nelly, whilst being surrounded by our favourite people was pretty great.

The meaning of marriage.

Formalising a commitment we’ve made to one another and becoming a combined unit, and that we will help each other to achieve one another’s goals.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: This Old Love by Lior, sung acoustically by our friends and was

Entrance: Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Jack Johnson

First dance: Golden by Kingswood and Move On Up by Curtis Mayfield.

Funny stories (or near disasters).

Our friends threw us an Indian pre-wedding ceremony called a Sangeet. Whilst there, all of the wedding party took part in the Henna/mehndi traditions. Unfortunately, we collectively didn’t look after the designs properly and a couple of days latter it looked like strange stains on some of the Bride Tribe’s hands. This led to furious exfoliation being undertaken in the days leading up to the wedding.

Planning surprises.

Just how much great vendors who suit your personalities make a difference.

Words of wisdom.

Our friend Josh gave us a surefire way of ensuring you invite the right people to you wedding. It’s called the ‘porch test’. If you can’t imagine yourself having a wine on the porch with them in 5 years time, do they really HAVE to be there? It helped us out a lot when we were agonizing over the guest list.
