Real Wedding – Megan & Michael, Portsea VIC

Following Michael popping the question to his love, Megan – they gave themselves three months to pull of the celebration of a lifetime.

Working at a frenetic pace, they were able to quickly decide a location, as the seaside town of Portsea is their favourite place in the world. Next came some marquee magic, and the team from White Top Venues, created a celebration that paid homage to summer in a relaxed, yet elegant style.

Dressed in a dreamy dusty pink gown, this perfect pair exchanged their vows, and then celebrated like they never have before in front of their family and friends with Blossom Daisy Creative capturing all the moments.

In Megan’s words…

The meeting.

We met as grads at an accounting firm in 2009.

The ‘one’.

I knew Michael was the one from the very first time I met him, it took Michael a few months to catch up.

The proposal.

Michael chose a rainy Melbourne day at home to ask me to marry him, so it definitely took me by surprise. When then celebrated with our families which was so lovely.

The process.

Michael proposed on December 2, 2017 and we knew we wanted to get married over Summer so we booked in February 24th 2018, so with only three months to plan we basically had to get straight into it and was non-stop for the three months. We were so lucky with all of our planning, we managed to book all of the suppliers we wanted and pull together our dream wedding.

Style inspiration.

The location was easy as it’s our favourite place in the world and the rest of the styling all just fell into place really. I think originally we set out for relaxed summer wedding but we ended up with a very elegant style which I really loved.

The dress.

I wasn’t particularly fussy about my dress and never thought I would wear a typically bridal gown. I think it was the second dress I tried on and loved it. It was a dusty pink Stella McCartney gown from Le Lourve in South Yarra and I loved everything about it including the custom veil they had made for me to match perfectly.

Favourite moments.

One of my favourite moments of the day was coming back from our sunset photos and standing outside our marquee watching all of our friends dancing and thinking just how lucky we are because everything was just so perfect.

Meaning of marriage.

Michael and I had been together for a long time before we got married and always knew we would be together but I love having a husband, I think it just cements us together as a team.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Bella by Angus & Julia Stone

Reception entry: Feel so Close by Calvin Harris

First dance: Latch by Disclosure

Funny stories (or near disasters).

The priest called two days before the wedding and said he couldn’t do our service anymore because he had had a skin cancer removed and his head was completely bandaged up. But after pleading with him to still do the service he managed to remove the bandages and was there on the day

Planning surprises.

I was surprised with how quickly we managed to organise our wedding and the fact that I had no issues booking suppliers in such a small amount of time

Words of wisdom.

I would recommend a short engagement, no time to worry about decisions
