Real Wedding – Robyn & Fabian, Williamstown VIC

Robyn and Fabian’s celebrations are all blissed-up beach vibes, relaxed romance and fresh contemporary styling. We love the choice to complement their nautical location with crisp all-white theming and muted dove grey linens for the lads.

Photography legend Courtney Laura captured their first look to perfection, with Robyn glowing in a perfectly modern gown by Love You More Bridal. It is giving relaxed chic perfection in a softly draped halter neck with backless ribbon detailing and a gentle train.

There to get the party started with her signature style, a perfectly personal ceremony crafted to create laughter and enhance the romance, is celebrant Megan Jordan. And as the guests partied on against the marine backdrop, the vibes continued to elevate in the hands of superstars Baker Boys Band.

Scroll on to experience the full story of this laid-back, laughter-filled affair.

The meeting.

We met on Melbourne Cup Day 2013. We were introduced through some close friends of ours, Shaun and Amanda, who were also in our bridal party. Fabian won my heart over a game of spoons.

The ‘one’.

From day one.

The proposal.

November 8th 2018. Fabian had to improvise at the last minute due to my unwillingness to wait, but it was very intimate. He proposed in the comfort of our home, followed by a beautiful dinner in the city and tickets to the Harry Potter Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Planning process.

I’m not the most organised of people, so planning a wedding seemed very daunting in the beginning. However, all our companies and suppliers were amazing, in particular our beautiful photographer Courtney and wonderful celebrant Megan. Both Courtney and Megan took the time to get to know us as a couple; they made the whole planning process a really fun and meaningful experience leading up to the big day.

Style inspiration.

We had a cocktail wedding on the seafront, so I wanted to carry that vibe through with a hint of modern chic. It turned out better than I had imagined.

Social media was my go-to, mainly Instagram. I got a lot of my inspiration from wedding photographers (mostly Courtney), dress designers and previous weddings that had been blogged.

The ceremony.

Our ceremony was perfect, personal, and full of love and happy memories. Megan really took the time to get to know our story, and she put together a beautiful ceremony that didn’t just speak to us but spoke to our guests as well. Coming out of covid, Fabian and I wanted a celebration that wasn’t just about us, but it was also about being reunited with our special family and friends and sharing this time together. Megan really highlighted that throughout the ceremony. It was truly beautiful and felt by all.

The outfit.

My wedding gown was actually the first thing that I ticked off my list. I didn’t really have a style in mind, but as soon as I tried on the chosen gown, I instantly knew. Everything else just flowed on from my dress.

Favourite moments.

Our beautiful three-year-old daughter Eva got to witness her Mummy and Daddy get married. Having her up there with us as we were saying our vows was so magical.

Meaning of marriage.

A marriage should be built on love, trust, respect, communication, support, and commitment.

Wedding soundtrack.

We danced to Lover by Taylor Swift. It was Eva’s favourite song at the time. Eva actually shared our first dance with us, which was really special. I walked down the aisle to January Rain by David Grey, and we/the wedding party, walked into the reception to Crazy in Love by Beyonce.

Funny stories or near disasters.

Eva was our flower girl, along with our niece Mila. They loved walking down the aisle hand in hand, so much so that they ran back up and did it again whilst my bridesmaids were making their way down. Our guests absolutely loved it, they thought it was hilarious, and it really added to the relaxed vibe that we were going for.

Planning surprises.

Like so many others, this was actually our second attempt at planning our wedding due to covid. My parents reside in the UK, so we had been separated for three years. Once the borders were finally open to international flights, we jumped at the chance of rebooking and were extremely lucky that our venue Pier Farm and our photographer Courtney still had an open vacancy.

Words of wisdom.

Just enjoy the whole experience, relax, and everything else will flow naturally.

To veil or not to veil? Cathedral length or snappy and short? Dramatic detailing or soft lace accents? When it comes to veils, the choices can feel overwhelming. We spoke to the experts at Madam Tulle to get the lowdown on what to consider when making veil decisions.
