Real Wedding – Slavisa & Mary, Braidwood NSW

A minimalist wedding that plays off a sense of countryside elegance, underpinned with artistry – sound incredible? Mary and Slav are here to prove that, yes, incredible is one word. Others we’d used to describe their stunning day are contemporary yet timeless, ethereally elegant and perfectly personalised.

Soft, cloud-like florals by Boutierre Girls provide a dreamy backdrop to the ceremony, while bow embellished candles and statement typography by Studio Jo-rge elevate the overall vision.

From Mary surprising Slav with a gorgeous piano performance to their intimate, emotion-filled ceremony, this is a dream of a day.

Styled by Reinevoi and captured by Alex Marks, we hope you enjoy experiencing the aesthetic imagery unfold as much as we have.

The meeting.

We met back in 2009 when we were both working within the hospitality industry at the Westin, Sydney; now known as the Fullerton. It feels like a lifetime ago, and like yesterday, all in the same thought. It has been quite a journey, looking back to when we first met, which all feels like a prelude to the wedding.

The one.

It’s a tough question, especially as our love for each other grew over the years. A different approach (I guess) than the storybook love at first sight approach, but I would not have it any other way. It brings me comfort to know that my love for Slav blossomed from knowing he was my best friend, first and foremost, before our eventual love story. You could say that moment when my best friend became more than a best friend was the moment I realised I had found the one.

The proposal.

Slav popped the question at the Pier One Hotel after organizing a pretend work event. I showed up thinking it was another dull networking function from which I could not wait to get home. Little to my knowledge, I walked into the hotel to see Slav standing on the opposite side of the wharf, greeting me with an igloo-like love-nest, on one knee, with the inevitable “Will you marry me?” awaiting my arrival.

Planning process.

The planning process, from start to end, was perfectly managed, designed and executed by our stylist REINEVOI. Engaging them for the wedding planning and styling services was truly the best decision we made for our wedding. The return on investment from a piece of mind and overall vision perspective was priceless. They truly went above and beyond to make my destination wedding come to life.

Style inspiration.

We have always envisioned a minimalist wedding that plays off the notion of countryside elegance interlaced with a touch of artistic beauty. As such, Mona Farm’s inventive nature was the perfect fit, with its vast landscape intertwined with the vast array of sculptures and artworks scattered throughout the property. Notwithstanding this, the venue and location were a good foundation, but it was truly elevated into our vision through the creative genius of our Stylist, REINEVOI, whose attention to detail enabled the DNA of our wedding to flourish. The beauty of the farm was brought to life, a moment in time, forever ours.

The majority of our inspiration was drawn from the aesthetic creativity of our stationery and brand designer, Studio Jo/rge. They worked with us and REINEVOI to not only create bespoke stationery for our wedding but by also guiding us on contemporary themes and styles and how different aspects of the wedding can be connected through the styling and branding design, telling a story, and translating our love into a language for all our guests to understand.

The ceremony.

Our ceremony was very intimate with our closest friends and family. A scene of greenery, housing 30 beautiful people, laughing, crying and being witness to Stav and I tying the knot.

Favourite moment.

Seeing each other for the first time down the aisle and seeing our fur baby kewpie (our Shiba) of course! Followed closely by our traditional tea ceremony.

Wedding soundtrack.

When it comes to music, a special moment for us was when I surprised Slav (prior to our first dance) with a score I played on the piano for him in front of all of our guests. The score was Etude Op.10 No 3, by Chopin, and it was played as an expression of my love and commitment to Slav to our wedding day and for forever more.

Words of wisdom.

Don’t stress about the small things, it all works out in the end.
