Real Wedding – Stacey & Semi, South Melbourne VIC
There was hardly a dry eye in the house when Stacey and Semi wed in a picture perfect celebration at a gorgeous warehouse in Richmond.
Stacey made an incredible entrance in a stunning custom made gown that captured the mood perfectly – dreamy and elegant. Their ceremony was lead by Stacey’s sister and our very own Natalie Drum and it encapsulated Semi and Stacey’s love story beautiful.
In the evening this darling duo moved to Luminare and partied the night away as they took in the skyline of the city. Both venues were the perfect backdrop for their day, feeling light and bright with soft and romantic touches.
Bek Smith was the lady behind the lens and we know you will be blow away by her stunning captures.
In Stacey’s words…
The meeting.
We were celebrating Stacey’s sister’s birthday at the Precinct in Richmond when we met in 2008.
The ‘one’.
As soon as we re-connected in 2015 over a few too many espresso martinis.
The proposal.
Semi took Stacey to Jackalope for her ‘birthday’. After popping a bottle on the balcony, Semi gave Stacey her birthday present to open. As part of her birthday present, he gave her a handful of photos with notes on the back. The last photo / note read ‘will you marry me?’ as he got down on one knee.
Planning process.
It was organised chaos! We started the planning early, but the to-do list seemed to be never ending.
Style inspiration.
We wanted it to feel light and bright, with plenty of soft and romantic touches. Both Butler Lane and Luminare fit the brief with their big windows and natural light.
The dress.
My dress was exactly what I had hoped for. I knew I wanted something simple with a fabulous sleeve and that’s exactly what I got. Sally certainly brought my dream dress to life!
Favourite moment.
For me, it would have to be the ceremony. Nothing beats that moment of walking down the aisle and seeing the raw emotion in Semi’s eyes. He would have to say the dancefloor!
Meaning of marriage.
Marriage is a partnership between two people who vow to love and support one another, through the great and the hard times.
Wedding soundtrack.
Aisle: Latch – Sam Smith (acoustic)
Reception entry: Danza Kuduro – Don Omar
First dance: Say you won’t let go – James Arthur
Funny stories (or near disasters).
None on the day thankfully! Although it wasn’t funny at the time, one of our groomsman did have to have 25 stitches in his head a week out from the big day. He still scrubbed up okay so we can all laugh about it now!
Planning surprises.
There were none really, my clever sisters had already worded me up.
Words of wisdom.
Get organised, be patient, work together and try not to kill one another!
