Real Wedding – Steph & Chris, Melbourne VIC

If there are three words to describe Steph and Chris and their inner city celebration it’s sleek, elegant and simple.

From Steph’s incredible One Day Bridal gown, to the beautiful flower arrangements and bouquets, this couple didn’t sweat the small stuff and instead made their day their own.

Finally they hit the dance floor and danced all night long with Ben Swinnerton there to capture all the moves and grooves.

In their words…

The meeting.

RMIT University, Bundoora ( of all places to meet your one and only)

We were both studying Chiropractic at the time, one year apart.

The ‘one’.

Very soon after getting together we both just knew that we were each others ‘one and only’. We had been very good friends for a couple of years before we started dating so already knew each other very well.

The proposal.

We decided together on a car trip back from Torquay that it was the right time in our life, and was the next step to were we were heading. Chris caught me very off guard at home one day with the most amazing ring. It was very low key and very us…. just perfect.

The planning.

Well after that car trip back from Torquay there was no slowing down. That night we were already looking up wedding venues and by the next week we had found our perfect venue, ALTO at GPO, and scored a date. This was all before we were engaged so the pressure was now on Chris to pop the question.

Once we were engaged everything just started to fall into place, we are both quite easy going people so booked the main things in when they felt right and well, left a fair few things until the last minute.

Style inspiration.

I did most of the styling on my own with the support of Chris always telling me “whatever you think babe, you’re doing a great job” ( it’s just not a guy thing ). I also had the best florist from back home in Geelong who helped me so much with flower arrangements and bouquets.

I started with a pastel and rose gold theme and tried to continue that through the ceremony and reception.

The dress.

I went straight to One Day Bridal and thought I knew exactly what I wanted. These girls are amazing ! They worked with me to help me realise that the lace gown with sleeves that I imagined wearing actually wasn’t what I wanted. As soon as I tried my “Moss” gown on and looked in the mirror I just knew it was the one. Sleek, elegant and simple.

Favourite moments.

Chris – seeing Steph finally walk down the isle

Steph – taking five mins out with Chris towards the end of the night to look back at all of our family and friends that were there to celebrate with us.

Traditions.

Neither of us had very strong traditions so we felt like the best thing for us was to just plan out the day to what felt right for the both of us. We are both nature lovers so getting married outside was a must.

Meaning of marriage.

For us getting married was the next step and something we wanted to do before having kids. Both of us grew up with a strong importance on family and we want to continue that on with our family.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle – You and Me by Lifehouse

Entry – Chameleon by PNAU

First dance – Latch by Sam Smith

Funny stories (or near disasters).

Surprisingly and very happy to say it, everything ran perfectly on our day. We had no mishaps, no near disasters and the girls and I were actually early to the ceremony.

Words of wisdom.

Enjoy the whole process from finding your venue to the last dance.

Don’t stress about the little things because once your day comes around and you have all of your loved ones there it will be perfect anyway.

In love with One Day Bridal gowns as much as we are? Check them out over on The Tribe.
