Real Wedding – Steph & Justin, Collingwood VIC
Justin and Steph’s wedding is all relaxed, candid glamour with a divine dose of ultra-contemporary, statement styling.
We love that Steph chose a minimalist style for her and her bridesmaids’ looks, going with a chic column gown from Rachel Gilbert. The clean look allowed her gorgeous gold accessories to pop and provided a perfect contrast for the sumptuous blossoms from Pomp and Splendour.
These are florals that truly wow, with a palette of lush green, muted neon pinks and caramel creams with whisks of cool lavender blue, framing the ceremony with cascading colour.
Blossom Daisy Creative captured every dazzling smile, from the post-ceremony high to martinis on the dance floor as the night rolled on, to tunes by legend music-makers, Baker Boys Band.
The meeting.
We met almost 11 years ago whilst flipping burgers at Grill’d Hawthorn. We’re only one of the three couples who are still together from that team!
The ‘one’.
When you are able to go your separate ways to live abroad or pursue your passions, and the other person supports you, with the intention to always come back together again.
The proposal.
Justin popped the question whilst back in Australia for two weeks over Christmas, at a beach in Sorrento, in the pouring rain.
Style inspiration.
We really wanted a big party for all our family and friends. Nothing too formal, where we could be ourselves and those we love most could get on the d-floor and let loose. Rupert on Rupert is the perfect venue for a big party!
The outfit.
All the brides I was drawn to were pretty minimal, so I went for Rachel Gilbert’s Juno dress, some statement gold heels from Dolce Firme & huge earrings by Isabella May.
Favourite moments.
It would be impossible to choose just one! Probably, looking out at our family and friends during the ceremony and seeing all their beaming faces smiling back at us, being surrounded by the luscious hanging flower arbour by Pomp & Splendour, or later in the night on the dance floor with an espresso martini in hand!
Meaning of marriage.
Finding a partner that encourages you to spread your wings, keeps you grounded and supports you. There is a line from our vows that really resonated with us “I promise to respect your freedom because although our lives are entwined, your choices are still yours alone.”
Wedding soundtrack.
A bit of John Legend and a lot of Leon Bridges!
Planning surprises.
The amount of options!
Words of wisdom.
I was given some good advice when planning our wedding: “If she wants the white doves, let her have the white doves”. That goes for the guys too! If you’re passionate and feel strongly about having something be part of your wedding day …just do it!
Thinking about bold and bright styling, but wanting to keep it chic and contemporary? We’ve curated a collection of our favourite real weddings incorporating everything from bold bouquets to disco neons – no colour rules apply here, and the results are all super stunning!
