Real Wedding – Tam & Sam, Cadello VIC

Sam and Tam’s wedding celebrations are a soft vision of sweet delight and modern elegance backdropped by stunning natural beauty.

Against the dense greenery of Cadella Park, the wedding party in hues of taupe, candy floss pink and burnt colour were a dreamscape of effortless style. The centre point to this dream vision was, of course, our newlyweds, absolutely glowing with blissed-out beauty. Tam wore a custom sheath by Marquise Bridal, cutting a striking silhouette in contemporary class, while Sam looked every inch the laid back sartorial star in a bone suit and crisp white shirt.

Artfully unstructured florals by Prunella added textural layers to the tablescape in tones of the sweetest peach and soft ivory linen. Against the raw wood and sandstone walls of the barn, the effect is striking.

For us, the stand out for this day was the effervescent emotion evident in every incredible image by Jeremy Blode Photography. From the stunning ceremony, where Sam and Tam cannot hide their delight for a single minute, to the epic sunset session, this was one truly exhilarated couple! And after riding the coronacoaster for so many months, their smiles are all the sweeter.

For a huge dose of positivity, epic prettiness, and sweeping style, check out Sam and Tam’s dream day!

The meeting.

We met seven years ago. Sam saw me at a party and instantly wanted to know who I was. So, he added me on Facebook. Luckily, we had a couple of mutual friends who encouraged us to go on our first date.

The ‘one’.

After dating almost a year, Sam went overseas on a University exchange program, and I knew he was the one. We met up in Europe two months later.

The proposal.

In 2019, we both quit our jobs and travelled for six months all over Europe and South America. On the first day of our five-day hike to Torres del Paine in Chile, we hiked to this incredible lookout. With the glacier in the background, standing alone together on a suspension bridge, Sam got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Planning process.

We googled every venue we could think of. We knew we wanted a venue outside of Melbourne. Somewhere an hour away, where our guests could enjoy the long weekend (our original date was Cup Weekend 2020) and stay the night. Finally, I found the website Wedshed, which is where I found our beautiful venue – Cadella Park. Everything else just fell into place after that.

Style inspiration.

Rustic farm/barn style venue. Lots of greenery with the ceremony outside.

The ceremony.

In an open paddock underneath the big tree, we stood together in front of all our family and friends. We couldn’t stop smiling. I kept whispering to Sam, ‘It’s really happening’.

The outfit.

My dress was a custom design by Marquise Bridal.

Favourite moments.

Waking up in the morning and knowing that we weren’t going into another lockdown! After all we had gone through postponing our wedding not once but twice (discussed in greater detail below), we were just so happy to wake up knowing we could finally walk down the aisle together. From that moment on, it truly was the best day of our lives.

Meaning of marriage.

It means spending the rest of my life with my best friend.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: All of Me by John Legend

No first dance – we just wanted to party with our friends and family all night long.

Funny stories or near disasters.

The 18th March was our THIRD attempt at this wedding. Our first wedding was meant to be on the 2nd November 2020. But when the pandemic was still raging through Victoria in August, we decided to postpone until February. We thought Valentine’s Day was a good omen, so we locked in the 14th February. Everything was looking great. Life had slowly returned to normal. We both had wild hens and bucks parties, and the finish line to this crazy experience was almost in sight. And then – the SNAP LOCKDOWN happened. Just two days before our wedding, it was ripped away from us. The experience was devastating. Our incredible suppliers quickly provided us with new available dates, and with our fingers crossed, we moved everything to the following month.

Planning surprises.

The details! There is so much to think about. Thank god my husband knows how to use excel.

Words of wisdom.

Get a wedding planner! They are a lifesaver and idea generator and another set of eyes and ears!

It was totally worth it. Worth the time and money, worth the tears. If you are getting married during Covid, prepare to be flexible. But when the day finally happens, it’s the best day of your life!

Covid postponements are definitely not on the wishlist of any newly engaged couple. Now more than ever, you want to ensure your wedding celebrations are supported by a team of super talented, supportive and freakishly fabulous folks, who will help keep you smiling during the pandemic rollercoaster. We are lucky to have exactly those superstar vendors on our directory, here.
