Real Wedding – Tharaka & Katie, Wheelers Hill VIC

After two covid induced postponements, Katie and Tharaka made the inspired choice to gather their nearest and dearest for a celebration that was mini in terms of numbers and stress but packed full of love and laughter.

Effortless and breezy with a hint of boho was the underlying theme for the day, but what overwhelmed us was the obvious joy and happiness that oozes from every image. Gathering their family together for the first time since lockdown for such a special moment resulted in gorgeously genuine excitement and endless smiles.

A wildly beautiful backdrop of sumptuous bushland frame Katie and Tharaka’s I- Do’s, with wildflowers at their feet enhancing the feeling of escaping to a whimsical wonderland. Gathering together in these picturesque surrounds for champagne and cake was the perfect end to a stunningly simple celebration, all captured to perfection by Tahnee Jade Photography.

The meeting.

Right swipe on Bumble!

The ‘one’.

When Tharaka (drunkenly) stole an entire wheel of cheese for Katie.

The proposal.

Tharaka tied the little ring box to our dog’s collar on Christmas Eve morning as a surprise present!

Planning process.

NIGHTMARE! COVID threw everything it had at us, resulting in all the reschedules! We finally decided to do a mini-mony with just our families in November after delaying the big day twice before.

Style inspiration.

Easy, casual, ‘lil bit boho.

The outfit.

Katie found her dress online after searching for the perfect elopement frock! She just wanted something beautiful, comfy and a bit more relaxed than the original dress.

Favourite moments.

Seeing our families again – it had been months throughout lockdown!

Meaning of marriage.

Sharing our lives and choosing to love each other every single day (even when we’re in a mood!)

Wedding soundtrack.

We had just the one song – Feels Like Home by Edwina Hayes

Funny stories or near disasters.

Just COVID and 2020!!

Planning surprises.

The best surprise was how amazing our vendors were – with scheduling and rescheduling, everyone was so flexible and made us feel SO much more relaxed!

Words of wisdom.

Having a good vibe with someone is just as important as the product they deliver!

Katie and Tharaka made the inspired choice to select vendors they vibed with. The result was a low-stress, blissfully beautiful day. If you’re looking to follow their lead, check out some of the lovelies vendors in the biz, on our directory.
