Real Wedding – Therese & Blair, Toowoomba QLD

Therese and Blair’s dream day was all effortless, chic style and sweet emotion against a stunning bushland backdrop. Every darling detail appears carefully considered to enhance and uplift the natural surroundings – from the deep olive of the bridesmaid’s gowns to the organically elegant draping across Therese’s stunning sheath. Sun-drenched golden hour photos showcase the glam to full effect, with the newlyweds looking their absolute glowing best.

Floral arrangements in creamy blush and spun vanilla add focal points, elevating the outdoor chapel to further fabulousness.

For these two childhood sweethearts, enjoying the time leading into the celebrations was so important – so their tip to other couples is to remain grounded and let it all unfold.

And those stress-free vibes continued throughout the day, culminating in one epic dance floor at the hands of legendary entertainers, Baker Boys Band.

The meeting.

We first met in year ten at boarding school in Toowoomba. Blair was at Toowoomba Grammar, and I was at Fairholme College. Blair came over with a group of mates to visit a group of girls, as you do when you’re 15 years old! He caught my attention with his sense of humour.

The ‘one’.

It’s hard to know if you’ve found the one when you’re 15. But we were so drawn to each other from when we first met. There’s always been a special connection between us, and it just evolved as we grew up.

The proposal.

We were visiting Blair’s family home, a sheep station in outback Queensland. He told me we were going out to the dam to go clay target shooting. He stopped along the way to get me to ‘check the water tank’. I was hanging on to the top of the tank ladder when I turned around, and he was on one knee. He’d prepared an amazing picnic not far away, think bachelor style, by the dam as the sun was setting.

Planning process.

My mum is amazing at organising events. I had the vision, and she made it come to life with thorough planning and organisation.

Style inspiration.

We knew that we wanted the style of our wedding to be romantic and elegant. We got inspiration from Prunella Flowers’ Instagram page, and for everything else, we really just stayed true to our own sense of style.

Inspiration from real weddings was helpful. We also got inspiration from other weddings we had attended.

The ceremony.

Our ceremony was a celebration of a 14-year romance. It was evident that everyone felt our love for each other on the day.

The look.

I describe my custom-made dress from House of Ezis as a dress of dreams. I loved how unique and modern it was, and it really suited my style. I really did know it was the one from the moment I saw myself in the mirror. Andrjez is incredibly talented, and I felt like I was wearing a work of art.

Blair already owned his tux from Hugo Boss. His matching mother-of-pearl and rose gold cuff links and shirt studs are from Mitchell Ogilvie and added a special touch to his look.

The bridesmaid dresses are from Silk Laundry. I saw the green, crinkle silk and fell in love.

Favourite moments.

My favourite moment was seeing Blair for the first time on the day when I walked down the aisle. I’ll never forget the way he was looking at me.

Meaning of marriage.

Marriage means endless love.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Anyone by Justin Bieber, sung by guitar vocalist
Reception entry: Always be my Baby remix by Mariah Carey and Austin Millz
First dance: My Girl by Otis Redding

Funny stories or near disasters.

A funny story – when I got to the top of the aisle, Blair and I kissed straight away without even thinking about it. We couldn’t wait for the formalities!

Planning surprises.

My two sisters got married before me, so I knew about everything that was involved in planning a wedding.

Words of wisdom.

Don’t let the process of organising a wedding overwhelm you. Easier said than done, I know, but I feel like there’s this expectation for brides to feel overwhelmed and stressed. I had so many people comment on how relaxed I was for a bride preparing for a wedding. It was important to me to enjoy the lead-up to our special day.

Make sure you make some time for just you and your husband on the day. Blair and I sat down in the cottage after our photographs, just the two of us. It was special to enjoy a little time together to just chill and take it all in.
