Real Wedding – Yasmin & Brenton, Albert Park VIC
Summer in the city never felt so good! This dream day has it all – there is beauty at every turn and newlyweds Yasmin and Brenton made it all happen in just five months.
With an elegant display of both fashion and florals, an emotional and memorable ceremony, Melbourne weather turned it on and the perfect party was had by all.
Katie Harmworth was there to document this dream day.
In Yasmin’s words…
The meeting.
We met at a bar (The Barkley Hotel) in Melbourne in 2012. It was very unexpected and the last place I thought I would meet my future husband.
The ‘one’.
We spent the first few nights going on a few different dates and it was just so easy so I knew we had something special. I knew I found the one a few months into our relationship.
The proposal.
It was in our home, I had just come back from shopping and it all happened so quickly. As soon as I walked in the door he walked up to me got on one knee and said the most beautiful words and the rest is history.
The process.
It was fairly quick. We got engaged in October 2017 and we were married in March 2018. I had a good idea of what I wanted so we got planning pretty quickly. We didn’t over complicate things and only met two photographers and two videographers. I knew who was going to make my cake and I knew exactly whom I wanted to get my dress made by (The amazing Sonia Cappellazzo). It also helped that my beautiful friend Belinda from the Three Piece Suit (The specialise in wedding styling and flowers) was the one that did all my invites flowers, table settings and so much more that it all just fell into place.
Style inspiration.
Because it was summer wedding I wanted it to be fresh, chic and elegant – And it was just that!
The dress.
My dress was classic and elegant and had more of a feature at the front. I knew I wanted Sonia Cappellazzo to make my dress because I loved many of her designs. I knew what would suit my body shape and the minute I walked into her boutique she knew exactly what I was after. The whole process with Sonia and her team was nothing but amazing. I did go to two other designers but Sonia was the clear winner for me.
Favourite moments.
Oh there were so many but I think walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my husband for the first time.
Traditions.
We had a belly dancer because I come from an Egyptian background and my husband is Australian so everyone LOVED IT!
Meaning of marriage.
Marriage is about continuing to love and respect each other but also moving forward to the next phase of our lives. It’s been such an amazing feeling and it’s been so beautiful.
Wedding soundtrack.
Aisle: The One by Ed Sheeran
Reception entry: This Girl by Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners
First dance – It’s so easy loving you by Ronan Keating
Funny stories (or near disasters).
The best man thought he lost the rings because the father of the groom took the wrong jacket and had made his way to the reception already but lucky they worked it out!!
Planning surprises.
I didn’t think it would be so consuming. I knew there was a lot to do but you really do think about it a lot. I also think because we had a short time frame it felt like there was so much to do in such a short time frame. I wouldn’t change it though, I like we did it so quick.
Words of wisdom.
Enjoy the process and trust that everything is always perfect on the day. Tick things of your list and write everything out so you can see you’re getting through your “to do list”. Just remember it’s about you and your husband so don’t let the opinions of others get in your way! Just have FUN with the planning process!
Mitch and Adi made the most of magical Melbourne for their celebration too – see it here.
